This was just an academic clearing. What's the big deal? Lance is already enrolled in classes as well...

I want the situations to be similar so bad so that i have more confidence that Lance will be eligible. However, the situations are completely different. I do feel good about Lance because I believe that Mick wouldnt have brought him in without being very confident that he will be eligible.

I'd love to hear more details into the status of the investigation. What have they done so far? What is left to do? How long will it take? When can we expect a decision? I don't need details as to what they are looking into, just more of a timeline.

THAT, is why I made the thread... people the purpose was not to look at WHAT they were looking into but to see how a similar eligibility case would be handled this year...
This is very early on in this process. Sidney might have been cleared as far as academics but they are far from allowing him to play based on the possible payments received, etc. He has a long way to go.

Sidney's parents are reportedly renting a $1.2 million dollar home on less than 40 grand annual income. Its not a similar case at all, IMO.

All this let's Sidney do is enroll in classes. There were questions about his academic and amateur status with regards to being cleared. Lance has no such questions about his academic standing as he's already enrolled in classes. This has absolutely nothing to do with Sidney playing basketball at MSU, just being able to enroll in classes. His amateur status is still yet to be determined.

With hstory what it is, I wouldn't agree with that statement. But I think he gets past the NCAA in this case.

I like your enthusiasm, but I don't think Mick or even Lance himself would put $ on that.

The odds are heavily in our favor that Born Ready is deemed eligible.

That's just simply not true.

Well, "heavily" is a subjective term. What I think is "heavily in our favor" you may find not nearly as favorable.
I'm saying that Born Ready will be eligible. Having followed the situation, evaluated the circumstances and weighed the odds..............I think it is far more likely than not that BR is cleared.
Take it for what you will.
If Lance isn't cleared, then I will be very disappointed. I will admit that I was completely wrong on my prediction/assessment.

As long as he didn't receive money then they are. If he did receive payment for the web show then he will not be. That seems to be the only concern and Mick and the others that offered him must have been convinced that he didn't.

I would consider heavily in our favor anything above 65%. Take that FWIW.

I agree.
Also agree with what Bcat Cafe said regarding Sidney and Lance's situation.
I believe he is going to be eligible.

Hopefully your source, assuming you have one and aren't just going on hearsay and what has been reported, is more knowledgeable than mine.

I think Globe Trotting Fan posted something that the final decision on Lance is due by the end of August. Is that what people are still hearing or have things changed?

Deadline's with the NCAA on this stuff are useless.

I have no source. I rarely have "sources" for anything. When I do have a "source," you can bet your a$$ I will never say, "my source said...."
I'm not going on hearsay or what has been reported.
I have a "feeling." If my feeling is wrong, then I'm wrong.
Either way, I think he will be cleared. It doesn't matter how lucky, how likely, or how crazy.
HE WILL BE CLEARED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, fair enough. Just might be a bit misleading to everyone else when you say "It is heavily in our favor that Born Ready is deemed eligible". That's ok if that is your opinion, but to throw it out there like gospel is setting a lot of people up for dissapointment.
I know that may sound like I'm bashing you, but when I originally saw that I thought "oh wow this guy must know something i don't" and I wouldn't want people out there thinking it is a slam dunk only to be dissappointed.
For the record I also think he will end up playing.

According to the NCAA rule, if the team that Lance is going to play for is Cincinnati, he will automatically be ineligible. (just my sarcasm after seeing numerous news of players' ineligibles by NCAA in last 5 years or so).

I'm not setting anyone up for disappointment. Everyone is very cautious regarding BR and eligibility. I don't think it is a stretch to say people would not be "shocked" if BR was not cleared for some crazy reason.
Everything that I have read, heard, seen, talked to people, etc., leads me to conclude that BR will be eligible.
I have not talked to MC, other coaches, players, etc.
I have read too many articles to count and seen far too much footage that points toward BR receiving elgibility. If I'm wrong, I will be disappointed b/c the infraction must have been less than the smallest minimal infraction thinkable.
