Really wanted this kid to be a Bearcat. Hopefully we at least land Teondre soon.

Miami has had so much success in college b-ball. I can see why he chose there. (sarcasm)

Miami FL - great location, good coach (Frank Haith), very good (ACC) competition.

Hope he doesn't join the long list of talented guys who commit to Miami or Fla State who are never heard from again. Wish him the best. He's not a 2 or a 5 so I'm not completely broken-hearted.

One does not go to Miami because of its basketball reputation because it has none. One goes there to live in Miami, FL.

No doubt on the second part. But (since joining ACC) not so any more on the first part. Miami FL is a viable choice for the many talented South Floridians who have gone elsewhere in the past.

I have to respectfully disagree. While being a member of the ACC helps Miami, it does not immediately make it a prime destination for basketball talent. Miami's current standing in ACC basketball is very similar to Vanderbilt in SEC football. When you think SEC football, you certainly don't think Vandy. When you think ACC basketball, teams like North Carolina and Duke immediately come to mind. Miami does not. When someone says Miami, most if not all fans will think football.

It doesn't compare to Duke or UNC but its ACC stature makes a difference.
Certainly the Miami area lifestyle is a big factor. But being an ACC school bumps it up the bsaketball ladder.

Similar things can be said about UC's standing in the BE, can they not?

A chance to start for a team that preformed poorly last year, in a good conference, close to south beach. I would say that is the same thing Cincinnati can say - except for the south beach thing.
He is also from Georgia which is a little closer in climate to Florida (and probably closer in distance, but Miami is down there in Florida).

If I was a prime athlete here is a list of schools off the top of my head that I would put at or near the top of my list no matter what sport I was playing. Miami, USC, UCLA, San Diego St, UNLV, Hawaii. I'll rarely blame a kid for picking one of these schools.
