I still think we will be top 5.

Jason didn't even mention Parker or Kilpatrick. Terrible rite up. With coach Cronin, Kilpatrick, Parker, Vaugh, and gates there's no way UC isn't top 3.

It's ironic they have villanova...who returns practically all starters, just like us, is #1 but we are still #8. I understand that UConn, Pitt, UL, etc. have good recruiting classes but freshman are not going to take you all the way, and if they do...the probably cheated on the SAT haha...I think we should be top 5.

Dude..i'm not trying to be a jerk, but with the name EngGrad i'm sure you know that it is spelled "write" and not "rite".
I do agree though, it is very frustrating that columnists can never seem to get a team's roster correct when doing an article.

Think about what you just said. Of the four teams you just mentioned, four of them made it to the elite 8, and 2 of them were in the final four. UC was much improved, but they still crumbled down the stretch and missed out on the NCAA tournament.
I agree with you, we should be a top 5 BEast team this year. But I wouldn't say it's ironic that every single conference preview doesn't have us winning the league. I understand that you're just being a fan, but let the kids go out there and earn their national respect. Who do you think they are, Notre Dame football?;)

This guy is off on Yancy's weight by 20 lbs. Guess that's why you don't go by the weight the player is listed at.

They return all starters from a final 4 team. They only lost Cunningham. They're recruiting class was deeper. They far and away deserve to be #1 right now.

I think villanova deserves #1 i was just comparing reasons for why they are #1...they return all starters. It just doesnt make sense that a team like Pitt who honestly lost I think way to much will be better than us

some of this is also based on who coaches these teams. Jamie Dixon always has Pitt contending. When and If Mick establishes UC as a perrenial contender then the Bearcats will get that "extra" respect.

are you serious? you are comparing the fact that villanova returns nearly everyone from a FINAL FOUR team, and a top 3 recruiting class in the country....to us returning nearly everyone from an 18-14 team? i mean im optimistic about this season, but villanova deserves their ranking over us.

i havent seen one preview with us top 5...Im sure there are some but Im not basing this solely on being a fan. Last year, the year before, etc. I knew we had no chance at the tournament and I admitted that, but right now I think that there is no doubt we should be a top 5 team. Im not sure that BE will get 8 this year in the tournament

I haven't seen a top 5 projection either, but I have seen several where the Cats are referred to as possibly "the surprise team in the BEast".

Nearly everyone returning is a big deal, even for an 18-14 team. However, I agree with what you are saying. I think the top teams are Villanova, West Virginia (if everyone can play), Cincinnati, Georgetown, and possibly Notre Dame as a sleeper.
After that I think UConn, Louisville, and Syracuse will be very competitive but take a step back. If West Virginia's two players can't play I slide them back to this level and move UConn up.

I'm loving seeing all the prognosticators pick us in the 8-10 territory while praising Mick's rebuilding job and the team in general... it's like they're saying, "Oh, that's a nice little team Cronin's got in Cincinnati, they'll win a few games and maybe make the tournament."
UC is flying way under the radar coming into this year, imo, and that is something that needed to happen since NONE of the players on this roster have played in an NCAA tournament game... this team needs to stay loose and learn how to win early on...

I agree, and I kinda like being the underdog. It gives the kids a reason to go out there and prove everyone wrong. Being #1 all the time is tough because you have to "play not to lose" every night.
Afterall, this whole concept sure has worked for out football team in the past two seasons.

And it's POSSIBLE.
