Here's an article about OR St's QB situation. It mentions that All-American WR Sammie Stroughter will make the trip to Cincy.

Ugh. I hope not. It looked like Oregon State was pretty much a one demensional team (running) in their first game. With Stroghter, they are able to open up their non-existent passing game.

I'm picking the Cats 28 - 24.

Your putting a whole lot of confidence in getting those four extra points aren't you?

I'd love to see him play. Last thing I want to see is an asterisk next to one of our wins.

That's right... Make that 26 - 24. I hope we can at least get half of them.

I hope he plays. The addition of one player should not strike fear into the Bearcats.

UC's defensive backs have gone up against plenty of great receivers in the Big East and have done well, for the most part.

See the latest link on Bearcatnews.com from the Corvallis newspaper. It is very doubtful that Stroughter will play.

Update - according to beaversportsnews.com, he probably will not be playing against UC.

This is ok with me. I want to win, and I'll take as many injuries to opposing teams as I can get. At the end of the day it's a W and that's what matters most.

I'm with you nachoman. A win is a win. I'll worry about an asterix when they are arguing over whether or not we deserve to be in the national title game. For now, I'll take a bowl appearance in a warmer city than Toronto in January...

We are in a game where a win matters and you don't get any points deducted because of a player not being able to play. I wish best for the kid as he has had a rough time.

While we are worrying about asterisks, let's not forget that we're playing without Trevor Anderson and Derrick Stewart. It works both ways. College football is about being able to win with whoever can play. If the Beavs don't have someone good enough to fill in for Stroughter, that's their problem, and it shouldn't diminish a victory by UC. It means we're good enough to overcome whomever we've lost for this, or any other, game.

A win this week and the Bearcats will most likely be ranked higher than an 0-2 Michiagan team and an 0-2 Notre Dame team (for a little perspective).

Here's a different article from a different OR newspaper that says Stroughter's status is up in the air. Then again, why should OSU's coach spill the beans at this point?

ND is looking at 0-2, but I imagine Michigan is going to take out some frustrations on Oregon. And if they do lose, Lloyd Carr is going to be looking for work real soon. ("Welcome to Bob's Big Boy, my name is Lloyd. I'll be your server this evening. Can I start you off with something to drink?")

IF UC wins this week, they have a great shot at starting out 5-0. Could Rutgers/UC be a battle of 2 ranked teams? How crazy would that question have sounded 2 years ago?

Michigan needs to run the table. With 8+ wins BK will all of a sudden be on Michigan's radar, and I don't think we can compete with their cash...Lets try not to think about it!

Michigan looking for a head coach is good this year. BK will not be a big enough name IMO. They will be looking at someone like Les Miles at LSU who is a UM alum. If the season goes as bad as the first game for UM they will need a big national name to get some respect back. If they can win out (including an OSU win) then they could look at someone like BK.

Your logic is good. I know its ridiculous and premature to fear something like that now, but it always seems like something goofy keeps us from breaking through into football relevance. I am very confident that if he stays BK can do it here.

Geez guys, he's coached one post season game on short notice against a MAC school, and one regular season game against a 1AA (or whatever they are know as now) school, and we're now discussing his leaving at the end of the season to take the Michigan job - can we wait until Michigan starts actually looking for a coach and BK has accomplished enough at UC to warrant being near the head of that list. In the meantime let's enjoy, hopefully, this season.

ESPN drumming up viewers. That's O.K. If he plays; hopefully it baits the QB into throwing more, giving Mike and D-Lo a chance for pick-six!
