Okay, I hope everyone realizes how huge that 34-3 thumping of Oregon State really was for this program.
Yes, it was a team trying to find the right QB. BUT the Bearcats are starting a guy with a reconstructed shoulder. And make no mistake about it that is the best defense that the Bearcats will face this entire season, so as the offense gets even more comfortable against lesser defense it should be fun.
And that Bearcat defense is simply awesome to watch play, flying to the ball and laying the wood to people.
For Coach Kelly and his staff to come in and get this team working well enough already in an entirely new offensive scheme with mostly Dantonio's recruits mind you, is very impressive indeed.
And there are just numerous great guys on this football team that deserve to be supported. I love the Bengals, but don't hard working college kids deserve at least as much support as the millionaires, some of whom feel like they are accountable to nobody?
There really is no excuse for anything less than a sellout the rest of the way this season IMO.
GO BEARCATS!!!!!

Sadly the national media looks at the bottom line, and the bottom line on this story is attendance:

Frankly, I think as many UC fans as the city has, these attendance numbers are horrific. I understand that that the students aren't in session yet, but if you don't do something there'll be more fans from opposing teams! WVU and Louisville travel quite well.
On another UC topic, I am I the only one not sold on Mauck's arm strength? I think BK had to choose between giving up a little heave (Mauck) or giving up a little decision making (Grutza/Pike). I certainly would've liked to see Mauck pulled from the game - at least for a series- in the first half! He did seem to have more zip in the second half, but some of the floaters made me really nervous, and throwing behind the receivers several times.
I am happy with the 34 - 3 win that the defense delivered; however, from what I saw, we should've put up another 50 spot.

As long as the Cats keep winning people will start showing up... wait until the students get on campus later this month... UC just beat the piss out of Oregon State, a team that not too long ago won a BCS bowl and just last year beat USC.
Enjoy it.
Mauck will be fine. The last thing the Bearcats need to do know is start a revolving door at the QB position. Mauck's a leader... i like the fact that he dives on loose balls... he's not scared, he doesnt hold back and that's what you want from the guy leading your offense.
I'm sure BK knows what he's doing. I completely agree with the sentiment that the offense is still finding itself. The O will get better as the season goes on. I cant imagine BK would let it do otherwise... I've been impressed by the guy from day one. He talks the talk and walks the walk.

I agree with no excuses of last night's attendance. They should not wait to go to the game until the Bearcats gets on top 25. Coaches and players were trying to win more of games and they need their fans' help to get their spirits up. A combination of both coaches/players and fans is the key to the Bearcats' successful football program. It is like a good strong stool with its 3 legs, and if one of its legs gets missing, it will not stand up.
If I live in Cincy, I would have bought the Bearcats season ticket. I am thinking about going to Nippert soon this fall.
Go Bearcats!

I don't usually comment in the football threads but a previous poster in this thread brought up Mauk's throws not having enough zip or being short. Those were bothersome but usually happened right after the snap when O Line broke down. More troublesome were a couple of bad snaps by Jurek and Mauk also mishandling a couple of good snaps. They were fortunate those only led to losses and not turnovers but you can only press your luck so many times before you lose one of those and put the opponent in great position to score.
Kudos go to the defense, especially Angelo Craig, Corey Smith, DeAngelo Smith and Haruki Nakamura. On offense I was impressed with Goodman's toughness, Barnett's inspired play. On special teams super great performance by embattled kicker Jake Rogers, Marty Gilyard for blocking a punt with his back and Brad Jones/Barnett for being johnny on the spot in recovering fumbles.

Everyone should celebrate the win over Oregon State by joining UCATS.
