Last time: UC fball on top 20/25?

I could not remember when is the last time the UC football team had ever been on top 25 or 20. I kept on thinking that it never has been on top 20/25 since the beginning of its football program. Does anybody of you ever remember or know of this?

The last time I recall UC being in the top 20 was during the Tony Mason era, 1973 maybe, the year the Bearcats went 8-3 (later adjusted to 9-2 when So. Miss had to forfeit their games).

According to one of the local papers, this is the first time we have even gotten votes since 1993...beyond that no idea.

That is erroneous information. UC was in the final 1997 poll ( I believe #37).
They also received votes in a couple AP polls in September of 2003. They were
listed in the Coaches poll in November 2004. There might be a few other times but the SID Department did not do much research before putting out that press release.

UC got votes in 1997 and 2003 as well... obviously these people are not on top of their stats.

I don't remember them being ranked since I was alive.

Shaun, don't know whether you count it or not, but in '93(? I think it was '93). UC was ranked well into the top 25 in the NY Times computer poll. (I'm assuming you are older than 14 ;))

I do remember it being a good team in 93. Was that the year with the horible fumble vs Kansas inside the 20 to cost the game.

I was at a college visitation at the time.

I didn't realize that they were ranked in the top 25 then. Right now they are in a lot of computer top 25s including Sergian's at 21.
