Another shining example of a one year collegiate athelete not lasting in the NBA. (and yes I know about his accident)

The injuries from the accident are the reason he's not in the NBA now.

Wasn't he in the NBA for a couple of years after the accident? More likely he just wasn't good enough.

Yes but the injuries took away some of his skills. He WAS plenty good enough, when healthy.

He made 9 million dollars over the last seven years. I'll make the same amount of money if I never retire - and live to be 92 yrs old.

I thought it was excellent decision by DerMarr to leave school early and pursue his chosen career.

You can't really blame a kid for leaving early. I know I'd do the same.

Yup and its almost impossible to think otherwise. Like someone mentioned, that is the amount of money I'd like to make over a lifetime. He made it before he was 30. That's called bankin. Sign me up.

Just think if Oden, and I hate OSU :) trust me, had stayed in college and this happened now. That's millions AND millions of dollars he would have lost. It's a business. And a game they love.

I guess I should change the Subject line of this thread, because DerMarr is back in the NBA (http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/basketball/nba/spurs/stories/MYSA123008.spurs-nb.en.65930f41.html).

another shining example of the fall of intelligence in this forum.

this has got to be one of the more ignorant statements I've seen on here.

Or we can start 2 or 3 new ones. (Tee-hee, j/k)

Any idea what the veteran league minimum is?

Close to $1 million (guessing). Rookie minimum is close to $500K now.

For some comparison: Patterson was the only Clipper whose salary was not guaranteed. He was set to make $770,610 if the Clippers kept him past this week. Doubt Dermarr would get a guarantee, but $1 mill is probably in the ball park.

The topic of this thread is correct once more. He was waived.
