Nice piece on the defense.

Nice article, but after reading this comment:

"After six picks against the Beavers, the Bearcats defense is more than halfway to its 2006 total of 14"

I think Ivan needs to work on his math skills. 6 is most definitely not 'more than halfway' to 14.

I stand corrected. UC has 8 interceptions (including the 2 against SEMO) so is actually more than halfway to 14.

I guess I need to work on my reading comprehension skills.

Defense wins championships!

See you in New Orleans! As a fan, I can look ahead! The team needs to be looking one game at a time. Miami should be a fun test for our defense. A few questions can be answered:

Can we set record for number of interceptions by a team in a single game? I don't think Miami will throw enough to get this record because so many are getting picked off.

Can we hold them to less than negative 50 yards rushing? Always a little confusing using the less than more than signs with negative numbers, but I think minus 50 or minus 60 yards rushing is a reasonable expectation against Miami.

Can the defense outscore the offense? I am not talking points off turnovers here. I literally mean the defense can return picks and fumbles for scores and keep the ball out of our offense's hands. We could put up 50 points, have a time of possesion under 20 minutes, and have a shutout!
