..... now that I got your attention, here are my reflections/thoughts on the current status of our great start.

1. This is, without a doubt, the best UC Football team since 1949.

2. Grutza looked awful good today. Nice speed, nice placement of his passes. Probably deserves to start next week.

3. Place kicker is higher inconsistent, but will get better. Remember, he only played one year of h.s. football.

4. Miami is not a good team. Watch for a coaching change at the end of the year, and Kerry Combs being offered the job. I hope he doesn't leave, as UC will regret the day they let him go, as his teams will haunt UC forever.

5. My sources tell me that BK is indeed on the short list at Michigan. Say what you want, but this guy is a winner, and everybody wants him. If he leaves, UC should offer KC the job (and don't give me the BS that he doesn't have the experience!!)

6. 35K for Marshall. Watch for the Rutgers game to be moved to a week night for ESPN, if both teams are 5-0 at the time.

More later.

The only high school football coach that would even be considered is the head coach of Elder High. Kerry is good because he has always had the talent, Ramsey is the best high shool coach in the state and he will be at the next level soon. I am not a Elder homer either, I am a Moeller guy in fact. No way BK goes to Michigan they wouldnt want him they can get bigger more proven names.

1. Wasn't alive then, but best I've seen in 27 years.
2. Not sure I agree. After a few nice passes earlier in the game, resorted to dumping off to outlet every time. Did a nice job, but I would have loved to see what Mauk could have done today.
3. Agree. He'll eventually eliminate those blunders. He's got a big time leg.
4. Miami is not a good team. You are too close to Kerry Coombs.
5. I guess B.K. would almost have to be on their list (if they have one), but I don't think they end up picking a guy like him right now. However, I wouldn't be shocked about anything like this any more.
5b. You are too close to K.C.
6. I really don't think there's a precedent for moving a game from Sat. to a weeknight after the season starts. Someone give me an example if I'm wrong. As others have pointed out, there are probably many people who have made travel arrangements already. Talk about a PR nightmare.

This appears to be a good UC team, but I'm not ready to pronounce them the best team of the last 60 years (I've seen every team since the mid 50s).

I don't think Michigan will take Kelly. I sure as **** pray they don't. That would be a disaster for this program.

No way we'd hire Combs at this point. After ONE year as an assistant? No way. Nor would any other major D1 program.

You need new "sources".

1. This appears to be a very good UC Football team. I don't ever remember a time where we were able to consistently run up the score on inferior teams. We are however only 3 games into the season. I would hold off on the "best ever" type talk until we get a little deeper into the schedule.

2. Dustin did look good today. Both he and Mauk are very serviceable QBs for this offense. I don't think the team's performance hinges on which of these two guys is behind center.

3. The inconsistency in the kicking game will haunt us once we hit the BE schedule. We can't afford shanked FGs against Rutgers, L'ville, WVU.

4. Miami is not a good team. KC will not be coaching there next year. D-backs coaches don't make the short list for D1 head coaching positions.

5. BK may be on the Michigan short list but I would think they'd go after someone with a higher profile. Doesn't BK have a ridiculous buyout if he leaves after his first year and then it steps down every year thereafter??? BK's style of football doesn't fit in the Big Ten. Michigan looked good today. If they compete for a Big Ten title and beat O$U, Lloyd won't be going anywhere.

6. Switching the day of the game F's over the away team's fans that have made travel plans. I'm with Bearcat85, I've never heard of a Saturday game being moved to a weekday.

Kerry Combs was hired ofr one reason and one reason only, to have a pipeline to the Cincy high schools. Why would we hire an option based coach after having recruited for a spread?!?
As for BK an Michigan, I have a friend who played at Michigan and is an active member in the M Club. He said there is one name on thier list and it is Les Miles from LSU. He went there, so did his wife, and they will do whatever it takes to get him "home".
As for the above comment about Ramsey being the best HS coach in Cincinnati...right league, wrong school. Steve Specht at St. X is 60-6 in 4 years.

Grutza blew too many easy throws to open receivers. UC could have easily scored another 2-3 TD's with Mauk

Miami will be much better if they stick with Raudabaugh. I expect them to have a decent season in the MAC

The offensive line needs to get a lot better or the offense is going to have major problems. The run blocking was poor.

And yes, I realize I'm complaining after a 37 point win, but I'm happy that there is finally a UC football team where I can do this.

First off, I doubt Kelly would worry about a Coombs coached Miami team. Second, as Miami fans have said, UC assistant coaches are getting 50% more then their head coach Shane Montgomery so he would take a significant paycut. And I doubt Miami would throw huge money at a guy who has one year of Division I-A coaching experience, as an assistant coach no less. And zero Division I-AA coaching experience. And I have a hard time believing you have "sources" connected to Michigan.

And it's funny that people say "well Michigan has the money to buyout Kelly don't worry about that!" But those same people forget that Michigan is going to have to spend and insane amount of money to buyout Carr's contract. Meanwhile Miles has an out in his contract for the Michigan job that won't cost Michigan a dime, or very, very, very little money.

Married into an extended family with a bunch of long time UM boosters. Wife's uncle recently completed an 8 year stint as a member of the UM Board of Regents. Word from them is that Lloyd is certainly gone. However, barring a top 3 finish in the BE for UC, they would stop writing checks if Kelly got offered the job.

List alomost begins and ends with Miles. If he's not interested, the next name they are kicking around is actually Rich Rodriguez (raiding WVU for the second time in a year). After that, in no particular order, the early names are Chris Peterson, Kirk Ferentz, Jim Grobe, Paul Johnson and Schiano. Kelly might get a look if we have an incredible season and all the other potential dates for the dance turn Bill Martin down. Just passing along info from folks who are a lot closer to the situation than I am.

I can believe that, Cafe. UM is in the position of being able to get a name coach now, not an up and comer. That doesn't mean there could be a domino effect causing someone to start looking at BK. Either way, if BK moves on it is because UC has had a great year. I would not be upset with that.

I would be upset if UC hired Coombs as the head coach. Not anywhere close to enough experience in D1A yet, and not anywhere close to gaining the respect and name that would be needed in order to recruit at a high level. There are plenty of other good coaches out there that UC could hire to keep the training rolling.

Traveling back from a west coast game the week before and then having to travel to the east coast and play on a short weeks rest would the absolute worst thing to happen to UC. I'd sooner have this game receive zero TV coverage on a saturday than get to play on ESPN on Thursday night.

A win over Rutgers with no TV is better than losing to Rutgers on national TV.

Miles is definitely #1, #2, and #3 on Michigan's list. He played for Bo, he coached for Bo, and he has always wanted to be the head coach at Michigan. The connection to Bo is still a very important one in Ann Arbor. If he wins a national title this year, it only makes him more attractive.

My guess is that Lloyd Carr retires at the end of the year.

I'm not worried about losing Kelly this soon. I really doubt he will ever make a lateral move (a la Dantonio, Murphy, or that dirty SOB Watson Brown who left to coach Rice. RICE.) When he goes, I imagine it will be for a real promotion - an elite school or an NFL job. He is not a serious candidate for either until he has at least 2-3 years of serious success.

Don't forget that Kelly had 2 national championships in D2. Ohio State did hire Tressel with 0 D1A experience. His success in Michigan is scary.

I think it is 10% chance of him going to Michigan, but I gave Dantonio 25% to go to MSU so I am not the best at this game.

Are you saying they (boosters) don't want Kelly? Or only if Mich would hire him without finishing at least 3rd in the BE? (I would be surprised if they did it without at least a title.)

But Tressel had a tie in to OSU, Kelly just happened to be successful in Michigan. I think the trend is gonna be to hire guys with histories with programs. For example, Mark Dantonio...not the most established coach, but MSU knew he had connections back to East Lansing, and they pulled the right strings to get him out of an already good situation.

I think guys like Miles are in great positions, but they wanna go coach at their "dream" school, a la Dantonio, so athletic departments are starting to look for the guys with the stars in their eyes about coaching at a certain school. I also think this is a great thing for college football, coaching carousels aren't good for college football IMO, so having guys at schools they are passionate about being at can only be good.

Very good point. I know OSU only likes to hire their own and if Michigan is like that then it could hurt Kelly.
