The Bearcats got 20 votes in the Coaches poll. Apparently, the coaches don't think as highly of the Bearcats as the writers.

Does Kelly get to vote in the coaches poll? The AP may see lopsided scores and think wow. The coaches may not have respect for our opponents Oregon State whipped their last opponent and Miami went to overtime on the road in the Big Ten (albeit Minnesota, but still a heavy hitter). We stifled both, and Miami was on the road.
One game at a time is how the players are taking this season, and the respect will come when it is one win at a time.

Kelly doesn't have a vote in the coaches' poll. Shane Montgomery does.

Cincinnati is #6 in the USA Today Sagarin computer rankings.
And if you just look at the Predictor part, the part they use to actually predict the point spreads for upcoming games, UC is ranked #2.
Minnesota is not a heavy hitter... they lost to Florida Atlantic on saturday.

Dang near all polls are useless. Coaches poll sucks because the coaches weigh their votes heavily towards their conference alignment. AP poll sucks because most sports writers are either idiots or heavily biased towards teams or conferences. The polls are maybe good enough to identify the top 16 or 32 teams (not in order, just identify them) that could make up a playoff.
That being said, UC needs the polls badly. Exposure in the Top 25 breeds recruiting.
