PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The BIG EAST Conference has named Cincinnati quarterback Dustin Grutza the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, West Virginia defensive end Johnny Dingle Defensive Player of the Week, and Connecticut kicker Tony Ciaravino the Special Teams Player of the Week following the week of games that ended Sept. 15.



Grutza learned he would start at quarterback against Miami (Ohio) 25 minutes before kickoff and he responded by completing 25 of 35 passes for a career-high 290 yards and touchdown passes of six and 13 yards in the Bearcats’ 47-10 win. He added 16 rushing yards to finish with 306 yards of total offense for Cincinnati, which improved to 3-0.

WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
DeAngelo Smith, CB, Cincinnati — Scored on a 59-yard interception return and had four tackles and a pass breakup in the 47-10 win at Miami (Ohio).

We are now 3 weeks into the season...

UC players named as BE Player of the week...a total of 3(week 1-Mickens, week 2-Rogers, week 3-Grutza)!

No other BE team has had more than 1.
