I have not yet had a chance to look, but it might be cool to read articles written during the Champinship runs.

Very interesting link! I could see a few cigarette ads. I bet they no longer take any cigarette ads.
Did anybody of you see Jim Calhoun on page 7 of this pdf link? I don't think he is the guy who now coaches for UConn, right? Maybe I was thinking of his wrong first name?
Thanks for this neat link.

It is a different Jim Calhoun. Although the UConn coach is the right age to have played for the champion Bearcats, he didn't go to school here. He went to American International University.

Not the same guy - the UC "Jim Calhoun" hailed from Carr Creek KY.

Scroll down to the baseball article on Page 3 or 4.
Starting SS for baseball Bearcats in 1961 was projected to be Harold Cronin.
Aka "Hep" Cronin. As in, father of Mick Cronin.

I loved a couple of the articles and ads - esp. the one (p. 5 I think) about UC students picketing Kresge's 10 cent stores in cincy because some of their stores down south were still segregated
Also the ad on page 7, nr the bottom advertising a Ray Charles concert at Music Hall - reserved tickets: $2.00, $3.00 & $4.00
How times have changed!

I'd forgotten that:
George Wilson's HS teammate Ed Franklin came to UC a year later but had academic problems as a frosh.
Dave Cosby was a sophomore starter for UC but left just before his junior season.
The late John Serbin played (briefly) as a sophomore but was kicked out of school for assaulting his girlfriend.
Neil Stappenback was a promising big man on the 1962-63 (undefeated) frosh team. He redshirted in 1963-64 but then left UC before playing the next year.
Ed Schilling was another promising frosh (guard) on that frosh team but never played varsity. Later Wright St head coach.
Joe Harrington signed with UC as a HS All-American from Maine in 1963 but wound up at Maryland. He later coached Oregon (and elsewhere).
Ron Krick had shoulder problems his entire career 1961-62 through 1965-66 at UC.
UC led Texas Western (UTEP) the entire game in March 1966 but the Miners tied it at the end and won in OT (UC led in the OT also).
