Alex is probably a walk on, but what is his background?

He went to Elder. I know that for sure.

He is the token "Meech, Meeker, B-Miller" type of white walk-on.

Is Anthony McBride walking on?

All I know is he is a walk on from Elder. McBride is walking on as well.

Not sure all 3 of those players qualify for the adjective you chose to use. I think Meacham is bi-racial.

Meeker was All-State HM at Troy OH. Miller was All-City at Indian Hill HS.

Eppensteiner is nowhere close.

So three walk-ons? These two guys plus that one guy from last year?

Correct + Tyree.

Notice that our walk-ons are all 6'2" or under. I guess if you're taller and marginal you grab a scholly somewhere our walk on at a more prominent program?

I think its more so that the starters have fresh legs to practice against. I could be wrong but that makes sense to me...

That is how it works. I had a few friends who were amazing athletes and put up really good numbers in high school, but the difference between this level and high school is creating your shot. All of these guys can hit wide open shots, but the guys you are seeing with scholarships have the ability to get open on their own.

Big is big regardless and big is a premium.

McBride had scholarships elsewhere (Dayton, MAC schools, a couple in the MEAC), but didn't qualify. He was either a 2 or 3 star @ Withrow. a steal for a walkon.

Could he see any playing time if he develops? As in more playing time than a normal walk-on would get.

I doubt it. He's decent but never overly impressed me at Withrow. Definitely has a better chance than Eppensteiner. His uncle Walt played for XU, didn't he?

wasn't it mcbride that played on the slats team in the deveroes league with dixon, gates and the newcomers?

Alex is well schooled in basketball. His father has been a high school referee for many years.

Nope, but Eddie Tyree fits into that description.

Yes, McBride played for Slats. He held his own in that environment.

The Cats are so deep at guard, though, that it's unlikely that any of the walk-ons play more than token minutes.
