The Big East and Cincinnati is definitely on the rise. I look for both UC and the Big East to continue to move up in the rankings.

Try to remember that computer rankings this early in the season really don't mean anything. Either they include a pre-season ranking component (which eventually will go away and shift the rankings significantly) or the linkages between teams are so weak that actually determining strength of schedule is virtually impossible.

With that said, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see the Big East finish ahead of the Big Ten this year in most computer rankings.

It is in deed early to treat the computer rankings as gospel, but we are approaching the 4th week of the season. So take a look at the Sagarin's for the teams that left the BEast and those that entered:

UC #6 BC #10
UofL #38 Va. Tech #31
USF #44 Miami (FL) #56

Now whether you want to say these reults are too early to mean anything, or a-typical for a college football season, they are currently what they are. I DO NOTwant to start an argument, or even a discussion, over it, but is does appear that Tranghese and the old BEast schools knew what they were talking about when they said that they wanted to add schools that had both the prospect of, and a commitment to, playing big time football at the highest level, and that was certainly one of the main reasons for chosing the 3 football playing schools that they selected.
