The NCAA is a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Kentucky tells NCAA a week ago about Wall. They decide in less than a week, while UC is still waiting on Lance. NCAA bias towards SEC at work .The reason the BCS is a joke is because the NCAA is a joke.!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Also, WVU's Kilicli suspended 20 games

We should be hearing about Lance soon.

In regards to the WVU player, are the penalties they issue completely arbitrary? I thought playing on a team with a "professional", whether you got paid or not, left you with no NCAA eligibility. If you watch ESPN360, they just had a piece recently that went over this scenario regarding a foreign women volleyball player. Also, see the Hernol Hall case. I know there's talk of changing that rule in the future but I HATE THE NCAA for reasons like this. Let me know if I'm missing something.

Current president of NCAA from SEC. There is a double standard on how they deal with appeals. Kentucky last week made it seem like they issued Wall's eligibility questions weeks ago. Not true, it was only way to put their guy to the front after Walls was exposed for cheating. Every player suspended after this ruling (including WVU player) needs to challenge NCAA. This is blatent favoritism to one conference.

ESPNAndyKatz: NCAA continues to hand out amateurism penalties: Marquette's Youssoupha Mbao will sit two games. The 7-2 Mbao debuts Nov. 21 vs. Grambling.

This isn't something that just happened in the last week. UK was working with the NCAA on this shortly after Wall signed 5 months ago. It just wasn't reported in the media until a week ago.

maybe its been going on since the summer, but that's how long the Stephenson case has been going on as well.

Wall signed at the end of the spring signing period, Lance didn't accept financial aid until July. Wall's case comes first because his paperwork was in first. NCAA doesn't begin reviewing cases until paperwork has been submitted.

I know it's frustrating and I believe the NCAA plays favorites (see the magical fax gate of years back w/Tubby and Kentucky) but I don't think they have done anything out of line with resolving Wall's case before Lance's. I do believe they should have a duty to resolve Lance's case before the season starts.

Agreed. Wall's case appears to be much more straight forward. He had unofficial visits paid for by his coach, amounting in $700-800. Its not like Lance, where they are investigating a tv mini series, and what happened behind closed doors at Under Armour.

Not true. The president of the NCAA has zero affliation with any conference or school.

NCAA Release
INDIANAPOLIS - James L. Isch was named interim NCAA president today, succeeding Myles Brand who died of pancreatic cancer September 16. University of Georgia President and NCAA Executive Committee Chair Michael Adams made the announcement in Indianapolis following a meeting by the committee’s administrative subcommittee.
Isch will be responsible for providing daily oversight and strategic direction to the organization until such time that the executive committee names a new president.
Previously, Isch served as senior vice president and chief financial officer in the national office and has been with the NCAA since 1998. Prior to coming to the NCAA, Isch was vice chancellor for finance and administration at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Prior to that, he was vice president for administration at Montana State University in Bozeman. Isch has an undergraduate degree in accounting and a Ph.D. from Kansas State University and an MBA from Boston University.
“Although I deeply regret the circumstance, I’m honored to be named interim president, and I can assure all involved in intercollegiate athletics that we will continue on the course that Myles set—one that keeps a keen focus on the academic achievement of all student-athletes,” said Isch. “Great leaders like Myles Brand build strong organizations that can thrive regardless of the circumstance, and I’m confident that we’ll continue our important work and move forward.”
“Jim Isch has played a key role in advancing the organization under Myles, and the entire administrative subcommittee has complete confidence in his ability to lead the Association until a new president is named,” said Adams. “Jim has an incredibly impressive record and I’m confident that he will provide strong leadership for the Association during this time of transition.”
The Executive Committee will meet October 29 in Indianapolis at its regularly scheduled quarterly meeting to discuss the search for the next NCAA president.

I read it. Isch was promoted from within NCAA organization, not from SEC school.

He's been with the NCAA for over ten years now. He's not from the SEC, he was promoted from within the NCAA.

Think of it this way, would the Big East name Lance the pre-season freshman of the year if they think he's going to be ineligable? I think not, and conferences push harder when the recruit is a 5 star player. That being said, UC needs to turn over their compliance department, to many fumbles have come from this office.

couldn't agree more about the compliance dept.
they are why i can't help but be nervous about parker and stephenson's eligibility for this year.
been burned so many times by the "this is a simple issue, and we are working closely with the ncaa, we will know soon" company line.

That's all voted on by the coaches. It doesn't indicate anything about Lance's eligibility because the other coaches have no clue on his status.

I don't remember anything said questioning Parker's eligibility. Is there something about his amaturism that is in question. He was already cleared academically since he's been practicing.

Parker just hasn't had his paperwork go through the clearinghouse yet. His papers went in really late. No problems that I know of with him, just NCAA bureaucracy.

Sorry, if that were the case he wouldn't be allowed to practice (remember Wilks?). I'm positive about that. Now if there were something else being looked into... then that's different. But if its academics, no way could he practice.

Everyone is good. Academics are fine for everyone. Lance just needs to get his slap on the wrist so we can move on.
