The next Hicks/Max? YES!

"Justin Jackson, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound forward from Jacksonville, Fla, has signed a national letter of intent, the school announced today.Jackson, ranked No. 92 in his class by ESPN, averaged 15.0 points, 12.3 rebounds and 3.1 blocked shots last year at Montverde Academy. UC coach Mick Cronin said Jackson’s style of play is similar to Erik Martin, Eric Hicks and Jason Maxiell."

As it stands now from scouting reports he will be more Hicks than Max due to his lack of an offensive games but I love that style of play.

Let's see....Hicks was the N. Carolina player of the year, averaged something like 35 points per game, 13 rebounds, 7 blocks. This guy is 15 and 12. Doesn't sound like an Eric Hicks clone to me...but we can hope!

And Alvin Mitchell averaged an insane amount of points in high school (high 20's I believe)... how'd that work out?... just because you fill up the stat sheet does not mean you're a great player or have great potential at the next level... everything's relative...

I'm pretty sure that Hicks had all of those stats before he was shot in the leg and shortened his jump.

Hicks had a great senior year at UC.

I think the leg injury occurred BEFORE his senior year of HS but not 100% sure.

Hicks was awesome. The two on the floor together was just insane. He's a quality get, and I'm pleased.

No it happened the summer before his freshman year at UC.

Yup. I recall Huggins calling him blackhawk down at midnight madness. funny stuff.

I think Jackson is a talented athlete who has yet to put it together in a basketball form but plays his butt off and is not afraid to mix it up down low. I think he has a bright future as a bearcat, but might take a while to get there.

'58, if memory serves me it happened the summer of his freshman year. Gun shot through his calf.

Yep, I checked the Recruiting history here at BN.

He was breaking up a fight.

Breaking up a fight. Not many "kids" have the courage to do that.

Was shot the spring before he came to UC.

And as far as courage, he refused to cooperate with the police when he knew who the shooter was.

That's fact too. But if you lived in that environment you might do the same. Just saying...
