Abolishing football at San Diego St
San Diego Union Tribune
A longtime San Diego State faculty member is sponsoring a resolution to abolish the Aztecs football program because of its failure to generate revenue as promised and because of the strain he says that puts on academics.

When I was at UC in the early 90's, I heard this sentiment from several classmates, grad students, and a few professors. They used the argument that money could be spent to buy book, improve buildings, pay proffessors, etc...to have a better education.

A little thing like the Final Four, ended all of that talk. Football team started winning more, then got to some post season play of it's own. I am glad that UC persevered, and I hope that SDSU does as well. Now we have the responsibility to give back to the university.

Go Cats!

Hopefully, the fairweather fans here at UC is done, and the program will continue to build itself. I'm not the biggest Minter fan ( I think he was mediocre here and at ND, though I like him personally), but he did start the building process, and was continued by Dantonio and now Kelly. No matter who is coaching the team in 2 or 3 years, the future looks bright.
