Abolishing football at San Diego St
San Diego Union Tribune
A longtime San Diego State faculty member is sponsoring a resolution to abolish the Aztecs football program because of its failure to generate revenue as promised and because of the strain he says that puts on academics.

When I was at UC in the early 90's, I heard this sentiment from several classmates, grad students, and a few professors. They used the argument that money could be spent to buy book, improve buildings, pay proffessors, etc...to have a better education.
A little thing like the Final Four, ended all of that talk. Football team started winning more, then got to some post season play of it's own. I am glad that UC persevered, and I hope that SDSU does as well. Now we have the responsibility to give back to the university.
Go Cats!
