Cash showed the ability to get into the paint at will last night, but he must learn how to either:
a) finish
b) draw contact and get to the line
c) dish for a bucket
He missed 7 or 8 lay-ups without getting to the line at all.
Can't wait til he fixes this.

I agree am excited when he can finish, but wanted to also point out that when we play smaller teams (like maryland) he wil have an easier time finishing - getting to the rim may be harder. Also, I didn't look at the play by play but would like to see how many rebs we got off those misses since he drew the big man away from his position.

His matchup will be interesting tonight. Marylands starting guards go 6'4", 6'4", 6'6'. Will be interesting to see how we do with 6' Vaughn and 6' Wright.

Give it time, he will adjust and start to finish. People where getting frustrated with him missing layups, which is fair, but look at it from the otherside.... He got the rim with ease. Gotta like that.

Agreed. Finishing at the college level is so much more difficult than finishing in high school (especially for a player like Cash who -- if I remember correctly -- played at a small school). You not only have to build your upper body strength, but you have to learn how to use the rim to protect your shots, stay in control, draw contact, etc. Cash will learn these things as the season progresses.
What cannot be forgotten, either, is that he is only a year removed from tearing up his ACL. Usually after that type of injury, it takes someone two years to get back to full strength and to get back their full range of motion. That is why, despite the poor shooting last night, I have been so thrilled by his play thus far. Give him a full year of being healthy and of playing every day and I really think he is going to be a top flight PG for us.
