We are 4-1 to date.
12/1 Texas Southern (3-4; lost at Colorado by 11) W
12/10 Miami Ohio (2-4; lost at UK by 2; lost at New Mexico by 25) W
12/13 at Eggsavier (4-1; lost to Marquette by 10; beat Creighton by 13) W/?
12/16 at UAB (6-1; lost at Kent State by 7; won at Georgia by 16) W
12/19 Lipscomb (1-4; lost at Vandy by 22) W
12/22 Winthrop (2-2; lost at Clemson by 36) W
1/6 Cal State Bakersfield (1-2) W
I think Xavier is the only game in question. I think we're the better team, but we're at their house and they will certainly get every 50/50 call. We foul too much right now.
Best case 11-1. Worst case 10-2 (w/ loss to Eggsavier).
I say 11-1.

I was thinking the same thing, hopefully 11-1 or 10-2. Curious, am I the only one who wonders why we didn't schedule more OOC games? We're scheduled for only a total of 30 regular season games. If we would have lost to MD it would have obviously only been 29. Let's say we go 10-2 OOC and 9-9 in BE play, with a 1-1 record in the BE tourney. 20-12 doesn't sound too hot. It's just hypothetical but couldn't we have added at least another 2 OOC games, of not 4, or am I missing something?

Xavier will be tough as always and going to UAB is never a easy feat. Those are the only two we should have a chance to loose.

I watched the xavier vs marquette game. Marquette played some tough D and by stopping crawford who really is their heart for their offense marquette was able to win that game. However, they had trouble stopping love, but I think we will match up better since marquette doesn't have a true post man. I have a question though, why is none of marquette's "amazing" recruiting class playing. Mbao has hardly played did he get hurt? Also cheeks and their other guy havent even played...

You can't play more than 30 games. If UC had lost to MD they would have played Wisconsin. These preseason tournaments ensure that everyone plays the same number of games. They have loser brackets.

We wouldve played three games in Maui regardless. I think 12 OOC games is pretty standard.

I think we beat up on Xavier bad this year.

I think we cause too many matchup problems for X.. We are too deep and athletic not to mention the combo of Lance, Yancy, Cash, and Thomas.. I really cannot see them beating us. I think the fact that it is a rivalry makes it a closer game than it should be but I think we win by 7. It will also be a LaSalle vs. St. Xavier matchup and I like our GCL boy!!

Xavier (OH) is not very good. It was a nice little run for them but we are definitely in position to regain our rightful position as top dog in our city. I must say, it is very nice seeing Xavier (OH) fall apart. Their little upstart fan base was starting to get a bit annoying. We are just too strong for them. December 13th will be a W for the 'Cats!

never underestimate xu in the shootout. they always play their best game of the year against uc.

that's when they had a good coach though..this Mack fellow is overmatched it seems. Xavier (OH) gambled in hopes that if Mack could win, he would be the guy who would stop the stepping stone process in Norwood. It's very early, but early returns aren't that great.

I know it's X and all... but it's been 5 games and his team has the same record as UC... I'm not sure how you could get an accurate reading on Mack's ability to lead that program within this amount of time... as well, it appears their recruiting has not missed a beat... they are recruiting at nearly the same level as UC...

For your sake i hope you are right, because i would hate to lose to a team that has fallen apart and not very good.

I think we should be worried about UAB just as much as X. Both of those games will be quality wins on the road. It will not be easy to win either of them.

They lost to Baylor this afternoon... excuse me for not being up to date on my Xavier record... point remains... a LOT is left to be shown for both the 'Cats and the Musketeers... and for Mack AND Cronin... I fully support Coach Cronin and have defended him through some very thick times as I hope you have... but this is the year he has to deliver, there are no excuses this season... as for Mack, it's a good thing the Xavier AD doesn't think like some on here, other wise he'd be canned tomorrow... I think the early returns for Mack have been POSITIVE... their recruiting hasn't missed a beat and I guarantee you they win 20+ games this year (because they play in the A10)... my point remains whether or not they lost to Baylor by 5 today (a 6-1 Baylor team)... Xavier will be fine and the true judgement on Mack will come in March, not now.

A nice little run? What are you talking about? Over the last 20 years, they've won more than we have - over the last 15 years, it's a lot worse - In this decade, they are 6-3.
This game is always hard fought and never easy to predict - X is one chicken I'll never count until the Eggzavier is hatched

first off- you can't judge Mack's overall ability on his first 6 games. Second, XU unfortunately has maintained great success despite being on their 5th coach in the last 16 years- no reason to think they won't maintain that. Third, Mack played in the shootout and knows what it is all about and what it means to XU. Finally, 3 years ago, when we fielded our worst team in 20 or so years, I'm sure XU thought they were going to roll....and we went out and beat them.
Acting like the crosstown shootout is in the bag and Mack is a bad coach is ridiculous at this point. I wish Xavier no success and hope they lose every game they play, but counting XU out is ridiculous.

Well said. X had some marginal teams beat Top 10 UC teams in the past - the emotion of the game can be an equalizing factor.

Remember Kenyon's senior year, when the team was SO loaded (Dermarr, Tate, Sattefield, Logan, Mickael, Fletcher)? Didn't the 'Cats lose to Xavier that year? This game is never easy and can never be given an automatic W, by either team. Xavier has been the better team in this game in most of the past ten years. The 'Cats should not take anything for granted.

UC always looks past this game. Xavier (oh) looks at this game as their biggest of the season. It is not hard to get up for one or two games a year in X's case. UC has to look towards UL, UConn, Georgetown, etc.

This sounds like something Ohio State Fans would say about our football program right now. I don't like to hear that from them so I don't think we should say those things about X. They deserve credit for putting together a fine program. If they won the A10 every year but sucked in the Tourney then I would not say this but they have played well. For the record I think our football team is underrated right now.
