Is it just me or would anyone else like to see Dion Dixon chill out on the offense end of the floor. I love his hustle to the glass and have no problem with his open jumpers....but WOW.
Around the 5 minute mark(regulation) left in that Gonzaga game, he lost his marbles. He shot 3 3pointers (2 were contested) missed them all, got very lazy on defense and allowed their guard to walk right up to the 3 point line and drill a 3 because he was late, then he slapped the wrist of the big man for Gonzaga after they had him double teamed. I am sure he is just trying a little too hard, but I am more upset with how Mick doesn't pull him out of the game and calm him down
I think Dion Dixon is a solid player that should average around 6-9 ppg and 3-4 reb's a game. His scoring should come mostly on tip-ins and possibly a 3 pointer per game, but in that Gonzaga game it was like he was trying to score 35.
Any thoughts? This isn't a bash Dion Dixon thread just thought he got a little bit to big of a mindset that WE had to have his offense.

I was trying to yell to coach Cronin through my TV to get him out of the game after he forced and bricked the 2nd three, though most on this forum think Dixon is much better than I do, in general. IMO, Cronin should be playing Gates, Vaughn, Stephenson, Bishop, and either Wright or Parker at the end of all close games, unless he needs to go bigger with Toyloy and Gates at the same time. Yes, he'd be relying alot on freshman, but I think their talent levels are higher, and the sooner they get comfortable in those situations, the better the team will be in conference play, and hopefully in the tourney. Dixon is o.k. as an energy sub off the bench, but he doesn't seem to be the guy to have in near the end of games.
Of course, Dixon played relatively well in the first two Maui games, so I could be dead wrong, yet again.

I love Dion Dixon's intensity. I will admit, I cringed every time he shot the ball inside the 5 minute mark as well. The truth is, he has the talent and the ability to make those shots. We should become more comfortable with him wanting to make big shots for us. It's his style of play. Mick can instill a sense of poise, but it's hard to tell a player to calm it down.

I want players on the floor in the last 5 minutes of a game who aren't afraid to take and miss shots. His shot selection could improve a bit but I still want only aggressive players on the floor in crunch time. That is why I have no issue with Cash taking the last shot. No one made themselves available so he took it into his own hands and got a pretty darn good shot. He missed. Oh well, I can live with that. Dixon is not afraid to take shots. Good. I like that.

Dixon is not a very good shooter and needs to learn to take better shots. That is his biggest weakness right now, but it can really hurt us at times.

Dixon is best in attack mode. I would like to see less 3's and more attacking from him but I could say that about the team in general.

Relatively well? I assume you mean for him, because I thought he was awesome in the first two games in Maui. Bilas was all over the guy and how good he is and could be. I agree that he did not play well against Gonzaga, but he is going to be a big part of this team's success this season.

Dion was amazing in games 1/2. Game three, not as much. But I'll take two nights of a guy kicking people around followed by a tough game. Just need others to step up. And NO ONE stepped up late in that Zags games, apart from Lance.
