I'll be honest. I never thought I would see the day when UC students would camp out for football tickets. Football fever has definitely grabbed the campus population.

The link below will take you to a photo gallery of the line for Louisville tickets. Coach Kelly went out to give pizza to the waiting students.

The picture of two co-eds putting pomps into chicken wire brought back memories of when I did this for my fraternity's homecoming float when I was at school.

Those are some painful memories. My liver and fingers will never be the same.

Painful memories indeed. Keith, any plans to make a stop by at good ol' 319 Probasco this Homecoming???

With the homecoming parade starting a 3 PM this year (and assuming that the weather is agreeable), my family and are currently planning on coming down to enjoy the festivities. While we are there, we'll probably stop by 319 Probasco to see the old stomping grounds. It has been several years since I've last been to the house.

Student Tickets:
I decided I would give this whole "only put 1000 tickets online and 4000 in person" thing a shot before I complained... but I just can't help feeling the shaft. All 4 years of my undergrad I didn't miss a game, and now that I'm still a student (though graduate level) and participating in my student teaching field experience, I don't have the ability to camp out for tickets (though I would love to) and I'm teaching so hopping online in the middle of teaching a class of 12th graders to get athletic tickets doesn't exactly meet my career goals... Despite my friends camping out for more than 14 hours, by the time they got to the front of the line the 500 guest tickets were already allotted.
So I hope all of you enjoy the homecoming festivities in the park while I will, apparently, be enjoying from home... (I'm holding out some hope though that doing some bartering may get me a ticket from someone less interested in football)
Ultimately: I wish they had announced the change to the student ticketing policy PRIOR to the announcement of general tickets sellout. Despite the fact that I pay the general fee and have thus already paid my fair share to attend the athletic events for free, I was more than willing to pay to have a friend get me a "guest ticket" since I am not a student who is on campus or able to camp out each day and I also would have been more than willing to attempt to purchase a general admission ticket had I known they were going to begin a ticketing process for the students, because I do care about my football team this much... and hopefully they keep that in mind in the future when it comes to making changes in ticketing policy, or if this is the policy they will keep in place for the future. I know getting tickets in advance often prevented me from attending the basketball games, and I hope the same won't end up true of my future football outings until I become a true alum and purchase season tickets.
Oh well, I suppose this is just another one of those parts of the UC bureaucracy that I found frustrating during my first four years...
Pretty great turnout at D&B last Saturday and can't wait to see the battle this Saturday!!

I tried to get tix for the Uconn game last week. Too late. How soon can we purchase tix for next year? :)

So does that mean the UConn is a sell out, too? I knew UofL & W. VA. but there were supposed to be "less then 5,000" tix left for the Huskies.

Theres still tickets left for the UConn game, and Powerkr you can still get in the game if you are a student. Just be there be 90 minutes before the game, they are letting the first 500 students in with their student id who don't have at ticket.

I'm aware of that... however from what I hear there are already students planning on camping out for this event instead of just arriving 90 minutes prior, and since my friends camped out the first time and got their tickets, I don't feel like they're willing to do that one again just for me hehe. Ultimately with that method it's too highly likely that I'll show up and still not be able to get in because I didn't camp and I would miss every other homecoming festivity going on that day waiting in line until the gates opened... A college friend who is a band alum and coming into town most likely has an extra ticket that she'll let me use (just keep our fingers crossed)

Powerkr,
I feel your pain. It's going to be a tough adjustment for people that are used to going to all the games and not worrying about whether or not they can get a ticket. I have bought tickets for the last three home games just in case I can make it in town for them (will definitely be at L'Ville and WVU). Historically I've just showed up and more or less bummed a ticket off a friend or schmoozed someone in the alumni center into giving me one of their extras because so many were floating around. While it feels like your getting the shaft, in the grander scheme, this is a great problem to have. I never thought I'd see the day that UC tickets were trading for 3 times face value on ebay.
