X is always a tough opponent, regardless. And UAB on the road has been a tough W for the Bearcats.

Get 2 W and the Bearcats are on their way to an excellent year.

The success of this season does not ride on the next two games. It rides on how well UC does in the Big East. If UC does well in the Big East (no worse than a top 6 finish and a couple of wins in the Big East tourney), no one will remember these December non-conf games.

But we'd all like them to beat X.

You missed the point, imagine that.

The next 2 games will be a good indicator of how the rest of the season goes.

Against two mediocre teams, neither of which are in the top 25? I will be very disppointed if UC loses either of these games.

I agree. Everyone knows that Xavier plays very well against UC despite its up and down seasons. UAB in Birmingham is always the one of toughest places to play at. I have been to Birmingham about 4 or 5 times during Huggins year and UC won only 1 time (during Kmart senior year). I live about 2 hours to Birmingham and I am thinking about toing there, but the problem is I am on end of season project at my work. Will figure it out.

Every game is important. To say the next 2 are an indicator of the season is kind of crazy to me. There are 2 1/2 months left in the regular season and to say games in Decmber will indicate what direction that goes just doesn't make sense. U.C. will be much better by the end of Jaunary than they are now. Remember, Parker, Wright, Stephenson and Thomas are all new pieces to fit in. Time will only help that.

I do believe they are big games in terms of your non-conference resume, but totally disagree that they indicate how the rest of the season goes.

Big east play is much more important than the next two.. Though, I think we all want to beat X

Once again, the point sailed right by you.

X is ALWAYS a tough opponent, regardless of rankings. Ditto UAB. Look at history of UC versus both teams.

I agree 58. If we win the next two, we'll be sittin pretty at 10-1 on the year. These next two road games are an indicator of where we're at as a team.

58, you are ALWAYS one step ahead of everyone. You have made yet another fine point .

I'm not sure if that means we're headed for an excellent year, but anytime a team can get true road wins OOC it looks good on the resume.
My guess is that those mentioning conference play did so because doing well OOC doesn't always mean much,as we seen last year GTown and ND did well OOC and failed in conference play and UL didn't do so well OOC and won the conference.

Once we get into conference play, we're going to take some hits. It makes these OOC games even more important.

definitely big games for us that we can and should win. Win against xavier and your top 15, lose and we are still in great shape with more opportunities to prove ourselves. However, for the sake of getting butts in the stands we need to win. Everyone in cincinnati watches this game...

The season isn't over but these 2 L do hurt - Bearcats need to do well in Big East play.

Losing to Winthrop or Lipscomb would be devastating to NCAA hopes. I don't see a loss in either by any stretch but they need to play better...understatement I know.

They need to prove to themselves that they can bury inferior teams or UCONN will be a very long game.

Not do or die but they need to indicate some change in interest/intensity.

The next real test is Dec 30 at home against UConn. Another lackluster showing in that game will say one thing very clearly - no post season again. They don't have to win it, but they better show some intensity.
