If anybody knows latwan anderson please tell him to go to UC. He is a 5 star safety that has UC in his final 3.

Tell him he could start right away on a team that will be automatic Big East Champs next year.

Where are you seeing that he has Cincy in his top 3? On rivals he has us as low on his interest level. Would love to get him. We need help on the Defense.

Kid goes to Glenville, that's basically like going to Ohio State High School.

WVU, Miami FL or OSU.

IN his last interview he said cincy wvu and osu. He said this at the AA practice

This is a glaring weakness for UC's defense (defensive backfield) where a talent like this could reap immediate dividends. If we had last year's DBs on this year's team, the D especially last night would have fared much better.

What hats did he end up showing at the game. I doubt that UC was one of them, but didn't see it. Was it Miami, WVU and OSU? I know he committed to WVU and I was told that UC wasn't in the picture, but others here had heard different.

Nope not even a mention of UC. There weren't any hats laid out when he comitted. He just told them WVU and the announcer asked him about OSU being in the running. He said he considereed OSU also towards the beginning. He didn't breath a word of UC and of course the announcer didn't bring up UC. Still a lot of respect lacking it seems.

Actually he did do the hat dance.

From prelim. feedback, We'll try leaving them open until the player actually signs elsewhere.

Could we maybe sticky players that have committed at the top?

Obviously we haven't got many players up yet but they will eventually be made.

I thought about that as well, but in football where recruiting classes are 20+ then the entire 1st page will be stickied. What I think I will try to do (unless others disagree) is sticky anyone new who has committed for a couple of weeks.

Not knowing how all this works but can you make one "sticky", lock the original thread and keeping adding the actual commitments to one top thread?

shaunsimpson
01-11-2010, 10:54 AM
Stickying just means that the thread stays at the top. It can still be added to. Maybe we can have a thread that stays at the top with all of the commitments, etc. on it. A "big board" of sorts.

Thegreatone

I love the idea of A "big board".

To talk about recruits. I know alot of people dont care about football recruiting but some of us do very much. Info is out there without needing to take it from pay sites. You just need to dig into it and it might be a couple days behind.

Anderson is supposedly taking a visit to USC. Could be vacation to SoCal in the dead of winter or legit interest. He may be like S Henderson who has not signed w/ USC and probably won''t until NCAA ruling.
Also, didn't Anderson visit UC after AA Game? Didn't he DIS OSU on twitter? I wouldn't say for sure is WVU bound until he signs. Why not UC?

The LA saga may not be over. Latwan is acutally on a track scholorship at The U. He has officially left the football team and rumor is that he is looking to transfer.

He would NOT have to sit out next season because he didnt't play this year for the football team and was not on scholorship.

I would call him and see if he wanted to be a WR/RB/KR/PR for us. I would use him on offense and get the ball in his hands. Unless he wants to be a Saftey.

He did visit UC. He is an elite talent but has serious maturity issues that are starting to be seen.

I dont think he goes to WVU because he made some comments about their program that would end any chances there. I doubt he goes to another ACC school. No way Tressel takes him on.

We may be a good option if he does look to transfer.

If Anderson comes to UC he will be on defense. Talent and Depth aren't big issues at any of the skill positions save maybe running back. But there are major issues on defense with depth. Devin Drane is the primary backup at both corner spots and Chris Williams has started games at both safety spots, that's not a good spot to be in. There is a need for a guy like Anderson on defense, much less so on offense.

After last night, we also need kids who aren't going to be playing stupid and bring more 15 yard penalties. Anderson is a punk.

I'm in the heart of Buckeye country and even the Bucks fans don't want anything to do with this kid. Given all the problem kids Ohio State has turned a blind eye to in the past I don't think Latwan is a good fit for UC if even Ohio State has beef with him.

Yep. Ohio State, at least in the past few years, is far more careful about who they take. You can risk it on one or two kids a year, but more than that is potentially detrimental to your program.

I'll add the one thing UC has going for them is they are at least a team of admirable young men. If i remember correctly they were second only to Notre Dame in the NCAA in graduation rate a couple years back. Add to that I hardly ever hear any negative media reports with the most egregious being Zach getting busted for underage consumption.

So while the Bearcats might not be performing on the field as well as we would like this year at least they're taking care of business off the field. I'm reluctant to risk that by taking a chance on someone with a questionable background.

UC needs talent, period.

Considering UC's options now in recruiting for the '11 class appear to be MAC level players at best, I would be eccstatic if they could somehow land a guy of the talent of Latwan Anderson or Jonathon Dowling. They are worth the risk in my opinion.

This nearly epitomizes what is wrong with college sports. Many revere superior athletes regardless of character issues and their social nonconformity problems.

I do not want UC to become the next thug-U. I would take a dozen Tony Pikes before I want a single Maurice Clarett. Give me solid 3-star kids that go to class, stay out of trouble, and don't make stupid pride-filled mistakes on the field (excessive celebration, unnecessary roughness, etc) rather than a bunch of chest-thumping, look-at-me-first, gang banging thug wannabes.

Physical talent and athletic ability are not the only things that matter at the collegiate level. I think discipline, respect, and honor count for a lot more. It sure makes rooting for the team a heck of a lot easier when they are respectable individuals.

Even Coach Jones realizes that this program needs more talent to compete on the next level which means you will have the same issues with players that the other major football schools have. It is a trade off that most are willling to take.

The arrest rate for Florida players is comparable to the rate for the entire student body. (http://www.gatorsports.com/article/20090614/ARTICLES/906141012?p=2&tc=pg)

Bengals fans were once uttering these same words. 19 arrests later they are the laughing stock of the NFL when not a season goes by without a national story about a Bengals player fulfilling the now deserved stereotype.

The city of Cincinnati already gets enough flack from the national media. Let's not give them another target by bringing in a bunch of rif raf.

I wouldn't be so quick to label UC a "great program."

Butch can't get the current crop of so called "nice guys" to refrain from manifold personal fouls and undisciplined play game in and game out. How can we expect him to handle a bunch of Tarblooder thugs out of Glenville?

Highly recruited safety Latwan Anderson recently left UM. Anderson, who left the football program during the season to focus on track, is the only player to withdraw from school since the season ended.

Yes. If he would have ever seen the field as a football player it would have conveted to a football schlarship and he would have to sit out a year, but since he is on a track scholorship and didn't see the field he would not have to sit out a year. I think he would only have 4 years to play 4 instead of the 5 years to play 4.

First of all, the article is for the week of January 3 which could mean it was written at the end of the week.

Secondly, it says he attempted to rejoin the team but apparently was rebuffed by Golden.

Third, he apparently doesn't believe that the rules and regulations of the University that a student athlete must follow apply to him.

This article adds new information from the earlier post that said he was returning to the U - yeah, he flew back to Miami to meet with Golden and the result wasn't good. Is there any news beyond Golden meeting? That's what I'd like to know.
