It is very interesting to see WVU get so many top recruits. Latwan Anderson out of Cleveland just picked WV over OSU. West Virginia has several others playing in the game. You'd think the back to back Big East champion would have at least ONE recruit or possible recruit playing in the game :(
I know WV might have more tradition but you'd think these kids would be drawn to the school that has went to the BCS game the last few years.
It'll be nice to see if BJ can get some of these upper tier recruits.

They just said BK did a "decent" job recruiting but now that he's at ND he's going to have to pick it up a little to get the top recruits. I'm already sick of hearing of all the ones "considering" ND and the SEC schools and commits to USC.

Something else I noticed. I think UC is the ONLY BCS conference champion from within the past two years that doesn't have a commit from the US Army All Star game either this year or last year. That seems odd from a recruiting standpoint if anything.

Small stadium, small fan base in a cold weather market. 3 years ago, most of the recruits didn't even know UC was in the BCS conference. Its not that surprising.

This year I watched college football live for a preview show and they barely mentioned UC. You never saw UC until this year on any ESPN stations.

If they keep in the top 25 for another 2 years (and keep a coach) recruiting will come.

I don't know. Why would 15,000+ extra people in a stadium have much of an impact in decision versus playing time, BCS conf. championships, etc.? Also, although Nippert is small it is rated by Collegegridirons.com as among the top 10 stadiums in the country at #5. Also, many of the big games will be at Paul Brown..such as the Oklahoma game.
I also don't think weather plays any part..except for maybe the top Cal and Fl recruits. Plenty of top tier recruits go to schools with MUCH worse weather than Cincinnati. They go there and basically sit the bench for two years too. It just seems a good recruiter at UC would have so so many things to sell the top midwest recruits on.
As a recruit are you going to have a better chance going to OSU and sitting on the bench for two years or coming to UC and getting exposure almost right away? How many of UC's players would ever be in the NFL if they went to another school with deeper talent and served as a backup and sat the bench? A good portion of our players that went on to the NFL were 2 star recruits that prob never would've got a wiff at the NFL if they went somewhere else and didn't play much.
Just my thoughts. Might not make sense to anyone else

Did James commit yet? I've got it on in the background.

All of this staged commitment stuff is crap!

"I'm going to choose....uhhhhhhh.....uhhhhhhhhhhhh.....uhhhhhhh. ..Florida" and he starts doing the Gator "chomp". Why the drama dude, you've known all week where you were going to school.

No James commitment - not sure that it's going to happen today, but I doubt there's even a UC hat on the table if he does.

He was supposed to visit Florida Jan. 16, UC Jan. 21 and Notre Dame on Jan. 29. But I think tOSU is there as well. I don't see him going to Cincy, but one of the other three.
The visits are going to be pretty darn important. Jones needs to put on a salesman hat bigtime if he wants to make headway.

Until our facilities approve we are going to struggle to get the top-shelf recruits.

James will end up at UC or Ohio State.

West Virginia recruits well because they always take the huge academic risk kids that the other big schools pass on. Somehow most of them end up getting eligible at WVU.

Richard Ash, Bruce Irvin, Latwan Anderson are perfect examples of that this year.

James has OSU in the lead right now, but I think we still have a legitimate chance. He is going to have to be blown away by Jones. I don't know who was in charge of his recruiting, but if it was Coombs we will still have a chance.

No idea, but they have a rep for always getting the big academic risk guys and somehow getting them eligible.
