I read that he thinks a lot of UC and has been around them a lot. He also said he is confident that BJ will carry on where BK left off.
To me it sounds like it is really between UC and ND right now. BUT Ohio State is in the picture and may push hard for him too. I bet OSU will make an offer as well.

I don't think he gets the osu offer. He will project at DE in college and osu has 2 commits there already.

Hopefully Combs (and the other Coashes & players) can close the deal with this guy. If they can get one or two of the highly recruited big guys to commit it could have a positive domino effect. The commited recuits will start recruiting for us and talking to their peers about staying home and winning conference titles & BCS bowl games.

I agree. It is important to land a few of the national recruits in our own backyard.

High school kids are well aware what players are doing what. It would speak volumes to land some of these recruits...

dumb question: at ND, or heck anywhere, do they offer before they know if they are academically cleared by their university? I'm just wondering if BK has a firm handle yet on ND's much tougher admissions requirements for athletes. I'm sure he's been told, but I could also see him trying to politicize some recruit to put pressure on the administration to allow him those borderline academically qualified kids. (I greatly doubt ND would bow to that kind of public pressure, but BK may not know that - it certainly was his M.O. here) Just wondering if the scenario could exist that he might offer someone and then have to retract later?

We MUST make colerain a pipeline.

Really, add the GCL to that as well.

Moeller has sent some really good players to BC, Mich St, Kent St. Lasalle has had some huge prospects including Posey, St. X always sends some big recruits places like BC and Loserville.

Grace is an ND or OSU lock. Trust me he has practically been begging for offers from either of those two schools. UC isn't going to be much of a factor at all for him.

Also, a DE on the next level which leads me to believe OSU probably wont offer him. I dont think they are as high on him as Kelly is.

That would be dissappointing. We need to start getting some of these kids.

Wasn't that what Alex Smith was supposed to do? I think the whole domino effect is largely overrated in recruiting, personally.

Not only that, but you can't discount how much a lot of 18 year old kids want to leave the town they grew up in, whether or not it contains a perennial BCS contender.

Not sure if you guys saw "The U" on ESPN's 30 in 30. The one thing I thought we could take away from it was the fact that the players decided they wanted to make UM their city's school and they made it a point to keep the big time recruits in town. Now Cincy doesn't have the type of athletes as South Florida (not to mention quite the rough parts of town as South Fl). But it would be nice to get the top notch players to stick around. I think it could start with a couple of studs sticking and telling their buddies in the Ohio All Star Game about the opportunities at UC. I'm not sure, in modern times, if that is as effective as it was in the early 90's (with internet recruiting services and all), but one can dream I guess. VaTech did something similar, locking down players from the Virginia Tidewater area (which really pisses off UVA) to build their program. I think this is what BK was getting at - lock down your recruiting base and then expand from their. Sweatervest did that up north too...we're just trying to take this area from him(I can't say take back because we've never really had Cincy).

I know he was an extreme longshot, but Grace committed to ND today (http://cincinnati.com/blogs/preps/2010/04/24/colerains-jarrett-grace-makes-oral-commitment-to-notre-dame/)

Sounds like Bks time here was just to warm up that Cincinnati pipeline for ND. Will be interesting to see when we get a four star from this city.

Honestly, if Cincinnati is landing four and five star recruits I don't care where they are from.

Even if BK would have been here I think it is highly unlikely that Grace would have come to UC.
