Saw on rivals bearcat page that he is considering UC. Not sure to the extent but enough to have a story on him.
He is a good running back that was committed to Pitt. I am sure Dion Lewis and the other 37 runningbacks they have may have caused him to look around some more.
From what I read he reminds me of Iasiah Pead and you can never have enough Iasiah Peads on the team.

Pitt had 3 verbally committed RBs this year after 5 last year....including Dion Lewis (big East offensive player of the year I think) and Ray Graham (4 star running back). So Pitt's top 3 rushers this past year are freshman, freshman, sophomore.
I wouldn't blame him for looking around and taking a visit to Cincinnati where we have 0 RBs signed from last year and 0 committed RBs this year.

I think it comes down to UC and Louisville for him.

UC hasnt recruited a runningback in the past 2 years including this year. He would be the man in Jr and Senior years

According to Pitt's Rivals board, Givens has re-affirmed his commitment to Pitt. This stings because I was really hoping we would take a RB in this class and he would be a great fit in our offense. The kid isn't going to see the field for several years playing behind Lewis and Graham not to mention the other RB they have coming in this year. Now we haven't recruited a RB in two classes and only have Pead and Williams in the fold. We'll need to take at least 2 RBs in the next class.

Any chance Eric Howard ends up at UC?

You're right. I was just thinking more in the future I guess. I know we've got Pead for two more years as the feature back, but I'm just somewhat nervous after that. This forces us to get two RBs in the 2011 class who are hopefully solid. I know D. Williams hasn't gotten a ton of carries yet but I'm still not sure if he's going to be a guy that we want to rely on carrying the load.

I doubt in 2010. Probably prep school in 2010.

it's gotta be tough to recruit a RB to the wide open spread that we run...

I agree but that's the type of system that I think Givens would excel in. He's very similar to Pead in my opinion. Our RBs might not get as many touches as those at some schools but the YPC numbers are superb. Plus the RB position has been by committee the past few years so no single RB had as many opportunities. I think we'll really see Pead break out the next two years. Givens will have a tough road at Pitt with all the RB talent he has ahead of him there.

Getting Pead drafted in the first 3 or 4 rounds of the NFL draft when he comes out would help a lot I think. He should see an increased workload this year, especially with the likely addition more zone read with Collaros.

Several spreads run quite often. I think that BK kept it in the air because he was not comfortable with his qb's running and his RB's not holding onto the ball.

I believe Lewis went to a prep school after high school for more exposure. I thought that means he could go after his sophmore year. If he has any season like his Frosh campaign, he is gone.
