Is there any way he would commit here before Teague decides? I would think we may get 1 but not both. I don't think he will affect where Teague goes but I could see Teague affecting where Jeremiah goes possibly.

I don't think Davis committing would effect Teague but it might effect Davis. Either way if we get one of these two it would be huge. Teague is most likely one and done and many have him as the best player in the 2011 class. Davis will play longer but both are pretty much can't miss talents

Agreed.

Teague is one and done. He is not as physically gifted as Wall, but they are comparable.

Davis is interesting. Have seen him play in person at the Take 5ive, he is certainly a larger point guard. His athleticism is good and he possesses a high skill level. Many have suggested a change to the SG position, but the kid can handle, create, score AND has tremendous size for the position. He is an NBA prospect at the PG position on his size alone.

Either player would be tremendous.

Haven't seen him play but I would say he is more likely a SG in the mold of Dion Dixon, of course better than Dixon but you get my drift. Indiana is known to be the team to beat for him and it's going to be difficult to pluck him away although we all know he likes UC and coach Cronin ALOT

Article was dated November 9, 2009. I personally saw Davis take a visit to the UC/Uconn at 5/3, which was well after this article.

This is the first I've heard of Tennessee being a player. I've heard Michigan State mentioned as a player. Indiana is obvious. Ball State is the local school that will not get a serious look.

Muncie's Davis playing better -- and drawing more interest
By Kyle Neddenriep
Posted: March 3, 2010

Muncie Central’s Jeremiah Davis, one of the state’s top prospects in a loaded junior class, has some new college options on his radar.

UNLV has offered a scholarship to the 6-3 Davis, who is ranked as the No. 40 player nationally in the 2011 class, and Arizona has shown recent interest, he said. Davis also claims offers from Ball State, Cincinnati, Dayton, DePaul, Indiana, Miami (Fla.), Michigan State, Ohio State, Purdue, Tennessee and Xavier.

It’s a long list. Davis said he doesn’t plan on paring it down until he makes a final decision.

“I’m still wide open,” he said. “When the stars align I’ll make a decision. But I’m not sure when that will be.”

Like his team, Davis’ season got off to a bit of a rocky start. He was suspended for one game in early December after actions he displayed in a 68-64 loss to Monroe Central on Dec. 1.

But Davis has picked it up recently and his team took a six-game winning streak into a Feb. 25 game at Ben Davis, a 70-53 loss. Davis scored 18 points in the first half, but was held to just two in the second as the Giants pulled away for their sixth straight win.

Muncie Central (10-10) opens play in Sectional 8 at New Castle on Wednesday against Greenfield-Central (5-15).

“I think my year has gone pretty well,” Davis said. “I’m just trying to go with the flow and listen to the coaches, things like that.”

Davis has played both at the point and shooting guard

Davis is the 2009-2010 Star Press East Central Indiana boys basketball Athlete of the Year

Davis averaged 16.3 points on 49.1 percent shooting from the field, 5.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.1 steals. He also shot a team-best 37.7 percent from 3-point range (52-for-138).

http://www.thestarpress.com/article/20100328/HSSPORTS03/3280343/1006/SPORTS/Central-guard-Davis-evolves-into-Bearcats--leader

Davis committed nearly five turnovers per game this season and tallied seven in Central's regional title game loss.

Davis, who lists Indiana, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Ohio State, Purdue, Tennessee, Dayton, UNLV, Miami (Fla.), Xavier, DePaul and Ball State among Division I programs offering him scholarships, says he won't rush into making a decision on where to continue his playing career in college.

"Cincinnati University" head coach visits Davis (haha):

Cronin perhaps scored points with his choice to show up in person rather than send one of his assistants.

"It shows he's going to be the one recruiting me," Davis said. "It was a good honor to have him there."

Well played Cronin. Despite all the work Cronin and the staff have been putting in, they have still been coming up a little short. But, let's see if Mick and the staff have yet another gear to take it to.

Saw Jeremiah Davis before the game on Friday with Mick and Darren Savino. The whole team was eating together in the big tailgate area in the Varsity Village.

Though I can't read the BearcatLair story, it says it was an official visit.

Davis was a big time prospect several months ago, but seems (at least in my opinion) to have quietly fallen off the radar of some of the schools that were pursuing before.

He was a Muncie Central (IN) Bearcat, but is playing this year at a prep school in Huntington, West Va.

He impressed me in the one game I saw him play in July 2009 at the It Takes 5ive event at UC: http://www.idsnews.com/blogs/hoosierhype/?p=4893

Apparently had some attitude issues or something, but not sure.

This would be good pickup. I would rather have a guy who had been very highly rated who fell a little after one bad summer than a guy who was a nobody before one fluke great summer.

Although the way everyone else seemed to cool on him so fast does worry me a little. Last thing this team needs is another attitude case, if that was the reason.

For what it's worth, and I'm not trying to be negative b/c I'm happy with the commit but... I asked someone I know who covers recruiting in Indiana and has seen Davis and his Indiana Elite team many, many times. He said he's never been a fan over JD and say he's not a good enough decision-maker to play the point that effectively, but isn't big enough to be a solid "two."

We'll see. Hope for the best. I thought he was solid the one time I saw him play last summer at the It Takes 5ive at UC.

I sure hope Yancy stays put after this year. Don't understand this signing considering the issues inside after this season. I know he is a good player, but we will have a lot of guards next year. I hope they make all their shots because there will be nobody inside to get a rebound.

I am happy that Jeremiah Davis will be a Cincinnati Bearcat. He is very strong with the ball and a team player. Both JD and Ge'lawn played together last spring and summer with Indiana Elite and they are good friends. Do'nt let ranking fool you because they can with any player in the nation. They can score, pass and defend plus they all come from winning AAU and high school programs. I think the bearcat nation will fall in love with this whole freshman class. Coach Cronin told us that he wanted to bring in Kid that was use to winning, well you have that with this class of players. Just follow them this season and see what we have coming to UC... Thanks JD for coming and making us wait. LOL

I know Cronin was recruiting him hard during his junior year. Personally, I wouldn't touch him. He plays a position where there will be decent depth when he is eligible and he seems like a complete headcase. Three incidents before he even plays a game and from another article it said one of them involved his threatening of a teammate that was so severe they had school officials involved.

not many McD AA's get kicked off a team before they ever play a game, let alone at Memphis. Pastner sounds like he stands firm on his rules, but the place isn't exactly Stanford in terms of standards. i dont think he is worth it.

Why so many negative nancy's? Can't you people ever enjoy any news? Good night.

I read:
I really want us to get this guy! He would be a great get for our team.

Then you get him and it is:
Is this guy really worth it? Everyone else backed off and that is why we got him.

What is wrong with you people? I am postitive we were not the only people trying to land this guy. Our program has been pretty clean with Mick and I will assume it will stay that way with this team. In Mick I still trust! I for one think this is the big year we have all been waiting for and we will see the start of that tonight.

"One player Central will be without this season is guard Jeremiah Davis. The University of Cincinnati commit left the Bearcats' program in the offseason to attend Huntington Prep in West Virginia. As a junior at Central last year, Davis averaged 16.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.1 steals.

Hannah said he believed the Bearcats could be just as good, if not better, without Davis in the lineup because scoring would be more balanced. At times last season, Central players stood and watched as Davis went to work with the ball against a defender.

"We're more like an up-tempo type team now," Hannah said. "We don't really have a go-to guy. We have a lot of different options this year."

Players standing around watching a star say more about the coach and other players than the star, doesn't it? On the other hand, some stars make a point of being unselfish and forcing the others to become involved. To my recollection, Lance leaned more towards doing it himself than involving others.
