(Clipped from Van Coleman CSTV story on BEast recruiting)

...6-foot-4 jumping jack Teondre Williams will visit with Cashmere Wright. He also likes Florida State, Mississippi and Oklahoma...

Thanks, can you name names as to the "few others"? Do you think a verbal is coming soon then from him or will he visit the other schools before deciding?

Williams is no longer on the radar

The why is he visiting? Have we quit recruiting him or has he taken us off his list?

Let's put it this way, he's not the top option at his position right now. It would take a number of surprising events to get him back to the top

My guess is that Eshaunte Jones may be ahead of him. Just a hunch.

Thanks for the clarification, possibly Eshaunte Jones has jumped ahead or maybe some future good news on Willie Warren

He's on the radar still - he jumps out of the gym but it goes clank when he shoots more often than not. Bad trait for a SG when we already have a bunch of slashers on the roster. Jones is in front of him on the recruiting depth chart.

Jones must be a better shooter. Anyone have anything on how well he shoots it? Does he shoot the 3 well or more of a mid-range shooter? Good off the dribble or catch and shoot?

He has a ton better outside shot. Very, very good from behind the arc. He's long like Williams. Doesn't have his crazy athleticism but plays good D.

Jones is a pure 2 guard. Not a combo or a sometimes 3/wing. IMO, we need a pure 2 with range on this team.

I agree 100%.

I agree that they need a solid shooter from deep, someone consistant enough from deep to keep defenses honest when slashing to the basket. I was hoping for a commitment from Williams but it seems as though Jones' game brings something lacking on this team. Here's to hoping we land him. When/is he (Jones) scheduled to visit?

Also saw on Bearcatlair that J'Mison Morgan has decided to take his fifth visit here. I'm still hanging onto hope of a Gates, Wright, Morgan, Warren and Jones class of '08.

Hope that's accurate. Lex H-L reports him going to UK for Madness tonight.

I heard Morgan was coming in for the fan jam or whatever they call it now. Still a long shot with his geopraphic ties and the types of schools he is looking at, but with William's recent injury, that could end up being the biggest visit we have gotten as a program in this millenium.

It's all about the shoes. Morgan is being "guided" to visit Adidas schools.

You do know Cincy is an Adidas school right? Also they have been on him a long time and they have a very good relationship with Bobo and his AAU coach Jazzy Hartwell, also his stepfather. The reports of him visiting Kentucky are false, check the Kentucky boards, they know. They also aren't very high on Cincinnati as a school or campus.

Still think it bodes well that Mick and Co. have the final visit before Morgan makes his decision on November 2nd, his birthday. I am NOT saying UC will land him but certainly looks better than anyone on these boards ever thought and that is because of the relationship developed between the coaches and Morgan/Jazzy/Morgan's mom.

According to the Brainiacs on the UK boards, UC is still Brand Jordan.

Oh, and we're "thug central". Man, I love the 1990s!

I think that is what he meant. Cincinnati is one of the schools he is visiting because they are an adadis.

I think our campus and recent academic increases can hopefully change his mind. Getting someone on campus is a good thing becasue you still have a shot.

Why would the shoe company be such a big deal? Does Morgan think he will be getting a shoe deal? He isnt OJ Mayo. What are some other reasons that this would effect his decision

It has nothing to do with the player's relationship with the shoe company. It has everything to do with shoe company sponsorships ($$$$$) of AAU teams.

OK but still why does he care if he is leaving that team. Or do his coaches play that much of a factor in keeping the shoe companies happy that they will heavily favor those teams with the same deal.

In many cases, yes the AAU coach plays that much of a role in the athlete's decision. In Morgan's case, his AAU coach Jazzy is also his stepfather.

Sorry for the dose of reality...But shoe companies run college basketball. More so than even the TV networks.

I wish this were not the case. Although there is a side of college basketball that people on the inside would never want to get put into the public sight.

I couldnt care less about who runs it, I love it so if it is the shoe companies I dont mind. If that is the game that is being played I hope we can play it as well.
