I debated whether to add the soft commits to the list but ended up adding them. I still have more to add but I didn't want to have my PC crash or something and lose the work.

Something has to give though..because we won't have enough scholorships to offer. We are in the running for several others too..such as Matt James and Latwan Anderson. Makes me wonder what the plan is on who they may drop

You think after the coaching change there will not be some loses and some invitations to move on from the current roster? I was told by someone whose job it is to know that UC could have as many as 24 this year if that many are warranted.

Some will be asked to move to walk-on status, and of course they will leave and some will not qualify academically.

Miliano, the kicker from Elder is going to be a preferred walk on according to BCL.

I don't think we really know......there were 3 kids that didn't qualify or had other reasons to not join the team this year. They are expected to join the program, but I don't know for sure. As mentioned in another thread there will probably be some attrition like Ricky Harris.

From a scholarship standpoint each team is allowed 85, but how many are taken up is a good question right now. A total guess would be that we end up around 18.

They are going to sign about 20 in this class. They have plenty of room for the guys they are recruiting.

1. They aren't going to get every guy they are recruiting and offering.

2. I doubt all 3 of the 'soft commits' stick with UC.

3. You never turn down a talent like James or Anderson if they call you on signing day and say they want to come to UC. You make room for talent like that. Period.

Great work on the main post for the thread.

Anyone hearing whether Preston Brown is still solid in his commitment? There's an intro to a premium article on Louisville's Scout site that makes it sound like Brown might be wavering on his commitment. Didn't know if it was just BS or if this story has legs to it. He did visit UL a couple of weeks ago. I feel like we definitely need Preston in this class.

Unless they are a package deal, I really wonder if Mazza still has an offer from UC? I am holding out hope for James, but not much. Anderson is probably an even longer shot. I think there will be another tailback added tp the class who will be similar in style to Pead.

That's interesting. Dave Berk is saying that Preston has still not made his decision. It'll be interesting to see which site is correct. I'd love to bring him into the fold.

butch jones needs to keep preston brown a bearcat. he was rated a top 150 player in the country after his sophomore year. he then verbaled to uc in the summer before his junior year. his ratings have fallen abit, but i would bet if he was pulling the same showboating junk with his recruiting like jordan hicks, that he would be considered a 5 star prospect now. but being verbaled to "lowly" cincy hurt his ratings.

There are other threads also, it appears 4 star Adaris Bellamy will be a Bearcat.

2 straight years with no true RB I think. I imagine we will end up with one.

Signing day begins on Feb 3rd. Is this the beginning of a signing period? If so, when does it end?

Not trying to be a d*ck or anything like that, and please correct me if I am wrong Shaun, but wouldn't Pead fit into the "true RB?"

I think he means that because we didn't take a RB in the 2009 class or in this class. Pead was in the 2008 class. Still holding out hope, though, that Bellamy signs with us.

Oh. Ok. I got you now. I was thinking he meant the last two classes, not this one (2008 and 2009). Sorry about that. Thanks for clearing it up.

Still no RB's. Isn't that a little strange?

Coach Butch is online chatting on the Enquirer's site. He was asked about the RB situation:

Question:
Why no RB's in this years class? Any plans on adding a top caliber back to the mix?

Answer:
Yes, we are still looking for a running back. Being behind in the recruiting process did not lend itself to finding a running back that we felt was up to the standard that we needed here at UC. We will continue a national search.
