Sorry if I missed this, and my guess is that the link on the recruiting page says as much but.....Willie Warren has left the Oak Hill Program to go back to Texas. Main reasons were him being homesick and not feeling as if he would get enough shots in their "complicated" offense. Not sure what to think of those reasons, but I still hope he's a Bearcat.

"He felt he would not get enough shots and could not play his game because Oak Hill's offense was too complicated and its rules too strict," said Smith.

Um...do we really want this guy? If prep school offense is too complicated and the rules are too strict, kind of sounds like a boatload of trouble - I take it he's maybe not the sharpest tool in the shed??

He is one heck of a talent, but loves attention - hence committing to two schools already and then backing out.

I guess it all depends on how good he is. I think you can put up with a prima donna for a year or two if he is the kind of prima donna that puts you in the final four.

I would like to see him here, but I don't think it will be a tragedy if he goes elsewhere.

I'd prefer a talented team player every time. Also, defense on the perimeter is a priority with Mick's style of play and defense calls for commitment and team cohesion. If this kid doesn't like structure and complicated schemes he may not be the player we want.

Forget this kid... I would hope that Mick's offense is just as intricate as a Prep School's... not too mention if he's bitching about getting "his shots" in Prep School what's it going to be like in college. sounds like a pretty selfish immature kid... exactly the type that would (a) not deliver on his potential and (b) not be a great "student athlete".

Willie Warren never, Kieth Gregor Forever!

It was unlikely Warren would wind up here before this; it's even less likely it'll happen now.

Right now, I'd take him in a heartbeat. As far as I know he doesn't have any legal problems, just being an immature kid. Mick can fix that. All articles I've read is that he is a pretty good kid.

I'm sure Marvin Lewis thought the same things about Odell, Chris, Frostee, etc. No thanks I'm sure Mick can find a better fit for this team.

Are you really comparing Warren to those three? They had prior issues. Being a "ball hog" isn't in the same boat. Amazing how some are so quick to judge based on an internet report.

Wow man, harsh! I think its pretty unfair to judge this amateur KID'S character on a couple of comments we read online. Especially comparing him to professional ADULTS that have been proven to have broken the law after being handed hundreds of thousands of dollars. All I have heard is that he is a good kid and the homesickness was more the issue. Sometimes young men dont want to admit a percieved "weakness" such as missing your family...trying to be "cool". I would love to have him at UC...my guess is it would only be for 2 or 3 yrs anyways.

Warren is a heckuva shooter.

Not always a maker but still a shooter.

He needs a new PR spokeperson.

He's a teenager...don't assume we're getting the real story!

However, if homesickness in a part of it...how is Cinci any better?

I'm sorry, but that is really offensive. Frostee Rucker beat up a woman. Willie Warren got homesick after being sent to school hundreds of miles away in a remote little prep school.

A little perspective, please.

Amen.

This is a single quote from his now scorned coach at Oak Hill. Yeah, I'm sure the kid couldn't figure out his really "complicated offense." Give me a break.

willie warren might be a good ball player, I dont doubt Mick could help him grow up... and I dont doubt that his ex coach is probably displeased with how he just up and left his team...

but he's also committed and reneged on 2 college programs... sounds kinda bipolar if you ask me.

Mick's doing a good job going after blue chip talent. That said, I would love some more "hustle" players. Every year it seems like the teams winning in March are the ones with both possible Lottery Picks and 4 year kids that live for floor burns.

We used to have alot of those guys... hope we get some more.

This from the Topeka Capital Journal:

Warren has narrowed his list to Cincinnati, Connecticut, Kansas and Oklahoma.
