Congrats to BJ for finally offering, and then getting verbals today from two stud kickers!
All State punter John Lloyd from CHCA (this kid may be the best freshman kicker in the USA, and I am serious)
All State PK Miliano from Elder
Special teams should be in great shape!!

You would be really mad if his name was Frank Andrew Grant

They were both offered prefered walk on spots. I told you months ago they wouldn't use a scholarship on another punter. Glad he chose us over scholarship offers though.

There is already another thread and they did not get scholarship offer, but are preferred walk-ons which was the right move to make.

Well... I had my associate named BJ. She likes to be called BJ. What can we do? Have you been to the BJ's store?

hmm 99 yards, i don't know lol...not trying to take anything away from this kid but check out the gust blowing trash across the field at about 18 or 19 seconds. "Chubbs I'm gonna need your help on this one..."
I'm not sure he is quite ready to be named great yet, his form isn't very good, and I also noticed on the 77 yard punt, he had no hang time at all! Hopefully he has a strong leg and is coachable!

Most high school punters are just the guys on the team that can trot out there and kick it farther than anyone else. There's not a ton of expertise at that level on the finer points of kicking like form, technique, etc. It's clear that this kid has a monster leg. Once he gets to college the coaches can work with him on things like improving hang time but this kid obviously has the raw power to be an incredible punter. Even Huber improved his hang time over the course of his career at UC instead of just trying to kick it as far as he could.

Exactly. What else do you guys want from a walk-on high school punter? He looks like he could be one of the better punters in the Big East in a few years.

I don't think that anyone doesn't want him, but Chris is setting some pretty unreal expectations for this kid and I am hoping that people don't expect too much from him.

Called John's dad a few minutes ago to congratulate him. The 99 and 70 yard punts were on rainy nights and on grass fields. Said it's definitely hard to draw conclusions on both. Regarding the scholarship, nothing has been finalized. But he is committed and that part is over. He simply wanted to go to school at UC and loved the coaches this past weekend. UC baseball is still in the mix and being considered. John was 9-0 and all state as a pitcher last spring as a junior. Was to play for Midland this summer, but that may now be tricky. Finished first in the 50 free and 3rd in the 100 free in a Milford swim meet tonight.

Does he just want to go to Cincinnati that much?
Am I the only one wondering why, if he is as good as everybody says he is, why isn't he getting a scholarship somewhere.
As a parent I would remind him the value of a full ride and "help" him with his decsion.

I think he choosed walking on at UC over a scholarship at UL. Maybe he's confident that he can earn a scholarship at UC after his first year and he just wants to play here that badly.
