From Bennett's Blog today:
Anthony Render, a huge offensive line prospect at 6-foot-3 and 330 pounds, has Cincinnati, West Virginia and Louisville among his final suitors.

I don't remember him being discussed much on this site. Anyone know anything about him?
Link does not work for some reason, sends me to Godaddy.com haha

I don't think he was even actually offered by any D1 schools. He is going to be playing at Mount Union.

Check out BK's first recruiting class and you'll be amazed how few have started and how the 3 star players have not been starters that they were expected to be.

At the same time, as was posted on another thread, a lot of the "feel good" stories and "stars don't matter" guys from Cincinnati got pounded into the turf by the top-recruits Florida was fielding in the Sugar Bowl.
To get to the next level, Cincinnati is going to need to start bringing in some higher-ranked recruits. You can place as little or as much stock in the star ranking system and Rivals/Scout stuff as you want, but the fact is that Cincinnati's recruiting needs to get better than it has been (even during the BK era).
Coach Jones gets a free pass this year -- he's in a no-win situation with trying to hold the line on the current recruits while simultaneously not being able to bring his own guys, due to his coming from a program that doesn't recruit the caliber of players necessary to compete at the BCS level. But, starting next week, it's time to start expecting more than we have in the past for UC Football.

I agree with you 100%. The stars matter a ton. We will never recruit like any of the big state schools but we aren't even recruiting good enough to upset any of the big guys. Until there is a practice facility and a bigger and better Nippert this will continue to be the case.

Just because we lost big to a highly motivated Florida team doesn't mean that we can't win a BCS game without a roster full of 4 and 5 star players. Does everyone forget that Ohio State got beat just as bad by Florida a few years back? Coaching and matchups matter much more. Just look at Illinois. They have a roster full of 4/5star players yet we beat them this year.Same with Pitt. Go look at there classes the previous 4 years or so. They are loaded with 4 star players yet we beat them also. We can win against the teams with teams that get higher rated players. It just wasn't happening for us at the Sugar bowl.
