Below is a list of who we recruited against, and how we did. Every player we offered a scholarship from both UC and another school is included, and its easy to compare UC's success rate. (i.e., against Indiana, there were five recruits who had offers from both schools, we got four of them.)

Did you put this together yourself? If so, I know I appreciate the hard work. Very interesting stuff. The most surprising thing to mean are the Big East numbers. I'd certainly like to see us do better there. Overall though (not that I am any kind of recruiting expert), I am very happy with this class.

Great post! Interesting not to se Miami Ohio on list. Definite separation.

Who says we can't win head to head recruiting battles with other BCS schools?

Well done, sir. Here (http://forums.bearcatnews.com/showthread.php?p=60814#post60814) is where you did a similar analysis last year... this year's is more detailed... you must have more free time on your hands now.

Well done. The only problem with the rivals list is that it shows if they ever had an offer and not if the offer still stands. But no way to know any of that for sure.

Over what period of time did these numbers come from? Just 2010? You have 71 recruits coming to UC by your numbers. Also, I'm sure some of those players are counted multiple times. So it is really hard to get a good grip on this. Though I do admire your efforts.
Assuming you are counting players multiple times by offers from multiple schools, overall we are 71-69. Not sure what that means though.

He had a disclaimer at the bottom that said that if a player got an offer from more than one program they were listed more than once.

You can't use the 71-69 because kids get offers from more than two schools. For example, Luke Maasa was offered a scholarship by Wisconsin, Notre Dame, and UC. So Notre Dame beat out UC and Wisconsin for him. That doesn't count as 2 wins for ND, any more than Matt James counted as 14 wins for ND (he got 15 offers).
What this IS useful for telling us how we fared against individual schools. For example, we went 0-5 against Pitt. There's probably several more that had offers to both UC and Pitt who decided on another school entirely, but the point is that if Pitt offered to a kid, we lost him.
On the other hand, it also means that we don't have to worry about certain other schools. We went 4-1 vs. Indiana, so that means that Indiana didn't hurt our recruiting much this year.

I pesonally think that you really can't look at the one-offs and gain any insight. Yea, we took ones away who had an offer from TCU and Utah and Oregon. But those could be special circumstances (such as Cody Kater, who had the offer from TCU. I think it was obvious he was going to follow jones whereever he went.)
I think its more telling to look how we did against the local power programs (Michigan, Ohio State, Penn St, Notre Dame). A total of 2-17. That means, for the most part, when a kid is offered a scholarship between us and a major, national program, they are going with the latter. This is where I would like to see improvement over the next few years.

I am happy if we currently beat out IU, PU, etc. Hopefully we get to the point in a few years where we compete with the PSU, tosu, UM of the world. I also think that we get some really good athletes that can develop into good players. Sometimes, they are under the radar because the verbal to UC the summer prior to their senior year. Cody could be one of those players who verbally committed to CMU and was lost from the rankings.
