I believe this may be the quitest recruiting period I can remember. There is simply no U.C. recruiting news any where. I would love to hear something soon. I know Mick and the gang are hard at it but something positive would be very nice. I'd especially like to hear some news about a post player. Rumor has it they are interested in a foreign player. What about J'covan Brown. Did he visit?

Yes, it has been quiet. Plus Mick's reputation of playing things close to the vest is still true. If J'Covan visited, I did not hear about it.

Aren't 4-5 guys visiting this weekend?

My guess is Mick may be saving a scholarship or 2 for 2009. According to Bearcat Insider he has offered 2 other recruits besides Danny a scholarship.

These kids change their minds and back out on verbal commitments all the time. It pays to have more than one egg in your basket.

Is there any feedback from the past weekend? Who visited? Any word on....anything?

Brown did not visited this past weekend nor were any other basketball recruits on campus. This weekend however, several recruits/commits are expected to be on hand for Fan Jam.

I would have rather had them on hand for the sell out football game than the Fan Jam which my guess will only draw a few thousand people.

Yep. That's a big factor.

IMO, a sold out football stadium does not have as much of an impact as a lot people think in swaying BASKETBALL recruits. I think it has more to do with the coaching staff, current players, recruits, & style of play. I think bringing them in for a scrimmage is much better than bringing them in for a football game.

Rivals is reporting that Eshaunte Jones has committed to Oregon State.
It looks like we're running out of recruits for 2008, if we don't get Morgan, Brown or Warren do we save the 3 scholarships for 2009??? There isn't much left in the 2008 class

Is Mick possibly becoming a victim of too high expectations when it comes to recruting? Is there such a thing as having expectations too high? Should we have taken a stab at a couple players with lower rankings rather than waiting for the home run? Or is it better that we wait for the home run and if we don't get it this year...get it in 09'?
Just curious to hear everyone's thoughts regarding the recent recruting news or lack thereof. This is certainly not meant to make a judgement call about Mick doing his job...I think he has done super. Just wanted to get some "expert" recruiting feedback since I don't know much about the process.

I think that is the nature of being a 'fan'.
Wins = attention
Attention = HS Player interest
HS Player interest = recruiting contact and visits
recruiting contact and visits = freshmen

Mick landed some good ones in just a few months in 2006. He landed Top 15 class in 2007. He landed 2 solid (Top 50 or 75) recruits in 2008 and will land more. But he won't land them all.
