Anybody else tired of watching this filth?
This team is made up of guys who wilt under pressure.. they play soft, weak, timid, scared, and WITHOUT HEART.
Mick is 8-33 on the road at UC, and 0-10 in March.
Who is this team gonna beat the rest of the way? Depaul BARELY?
Nobody else though...
6-12 in Big East finish, opening round L in B.E. Tourney-- 15-16, no NIT

Right now, I don't know with whom I am more disgusted, MC or Doc Rivers.

Dear Mike Thomas,
Please end our misery and get a real basketball coach in here. We can be both a football and basketball school. You have done a phenomal job on the football side.

I'm sick of this coach and his lack of accountability regarding everything.
We (the fans) don't care how tall a team is, we don't care how well ND passes, we don't care how hard it is to get wins on the road, Mick; we don't care and we are sick of the excuses.
Instead of making excuses; how about you get the **** out of here so we can bring in a coach (taller than 5feet) that is going to get his players to play like men. Wake up Mick...this isn't high school basketball on the west-side.

Incidentally, Deonta Vaughn took over 20% of UC's field goal attempts today and wound up with 4 points, no trips to the foul line and one assist. And his defense remains a very large liability. So the question becomes--why is he playing 32 minutes per game?

It is fair to be frustrated. I am, too. I don't care how tall my coach is. Just win...

Somebody was on here earlier this year saying they should retire his jersey. Funny stuff.

after his sophomore year, when the guy was routinely putting in 25+ point per game performances, hitting huge shots, being named 1st team all big east, and single handedly carrying this team, i think you would have been hard pressed to convince many people on here that he wasn't going to end up being an all-american player, myself included.
hindsight is 20/20. was steve logan a stretch? yes because he was national player of the year by some publications. but given the way he played back then, i don't think people speculating that he could be an all american was at all out of the question at that time.

Easy there big boy. Blame the coach if you will, but take it easy on the players. The guys are busting their a$$es.
Yes, I'm defending our players. They don't deserve to be slammed, even if they lost every game. They're "young men" that represent our University by playing basketball as a full-time job.

I disagree with this statement. They are NOT busting there as$$es. The effort this team gives is pathetic at times.
As for playing basketball as a full-time job... Well thats fine and dandy, but ill trade playing basketball for my actual full time job, which pays for my school. They are paid to play, like it or not, and nothing drives me more crazy than the lack of effort at times. One in particular.

I think they think they are playing hard and busting their a$$es but our Coach has yet to instill in them how hard you have to play at this level. They really don't play hard at all in my opinion. I will agree that there is no reason to attack the players though. Mick brought many of them and has not developed them at all.

i know what you are saying. if i was 260 pounds i would have the guy gaurding me crying by halftime. yancy's knock in high school was he is lazy and doesnt play hard. well, thats the way he was then, thats the way he is now. MAYBE thats just the way he is wired, thats all the fire we will see out of dude. i know this, i played basketball from grade school to high school and not once did i need a coach to "motivate" me or "hype" me up for a game, at some point Gates needs to man up. funny thing is, i dont think he has it in him.

+1 A good coach rises up and takes responsibility. A good coach is never satisfied. A good coach always sees opportunity to get better and make improvements. A good coach NEVER SETTLES.
I have not been a Cronin hater or lover. Just been sitting back and watching to see what might happen. There wasn’t going to be an instant change. I watched all those bad transition games over the last few years. But this year we should be a solid mid to slightly above upper mid BE team. We are not.
However I have basically given up on this current scheme. We have some decent players, however they are not producing. I don’t see UC getting rid of Cronin either. I see us slogging back into the years of obscurity, attendance dropping, no name players showing up and so forth.
They have lost me. It wouldn’t take much to get me back though. Bust your hump, dive for balls, bust your butt BACK on defense, sit non producing players. The basics. Show us the fans that you are very interested in playing the game versus going through the motions…….

Single handedly carry a bad team to mediocrity, while certainly an accomplishment, is no where near as good as single handedly leading your team to a top seed in the NCAA tournament. ;) I never understood the comparison. It's like the love people here have for Wilks? What's that about?

Either way we're talking about making a team better. Vaughn elevated his team to a higher level as a sophmore. He is not doing that this year. Maybe the pressure is greater on Vaughn now compared to his first two years when we had no expectations. Maybe it's the foot injury, or lack of drive to progress. My feeling is that it's all 3. DV already admitted his slow start in December was due to a poor offseason.
As for Logan, you have to credit the coaching staff for forcing him to be the best player a 5'10" guy could be. If you know his story he almost walked from the program, unwilling to deal with the adversity he was facing. Out of that came 2002, being player 1A behind Jason Williams, and earning a #1 seed.
My theory is Vaughn was given a longer leash the last two years since he "earned" it, and needed a break (remember Cronin saying how worn down he was last year?) to recoup his strength. It seems the two approaches have produced much different results. I'll never forget Logan using stockiness to back his defender into that 16 foot turn around he perfected in '02. He was good for about 8-12 points a night with that move.
BTW, I was one of those that saw shades of Logan in DV two years ago. But like someone mentioned, hindsight is 20/20.
