Record donation. So much for increased sports giving hurting academic donations.
Nice way to kick off the $750 million capital campaign. Not a bad way to start Mr. Neihoff.

Big props to President Nancy Zimpher on securing this $100 million donation. It looks like Nancy Z is UC's cash cow!

Sweet, now all DAAP has to do is accept me!

Sorta stinks but true, Ralph. The lady has folks on the payroll that straight up know how to shake down the right people. Keep it up.

If they can get $100 mil for DAAP, I would imagine they'd be able to get a new Nippert built.

The "practice bubble" is already in the works. Announcement by the end of the football season.
Nippert expansion plans are being seriously reviewed.
Neither of these facts has anything to do with this big check.

There was a previous thread on the forum 3+ months ago about studies done by a New York firm with studies of 5/3 arena repositioned closer to Jefferson... I have looked for the thread in the archives but can't seem to find it. Anybody remember it?
And as far as the grant goes DAAP could use the money; by comparison Engineering is rolling in dough. The donation should in no way effect construction on Nippert, if the money is allocated for education let it stay separate from influencing funds for the nip.

Don't know if this is the same donor or not, but a new article today announces a $421 million dollar donation.

I think it would have to be the same one, so I changed the title of this thread to reflect the correct amount.

Not to look any donation in the mouth but this is not cash, this is hardware and software, I am sure the $421 is the retail value, of which no one ever would actually pay. I buy enough technology to know the first quote is the starting point you usually end up paying 40-50% of that.
This would be like microsoft saying that the $5.00 copies of Office it sells in the bookstore to students is really $500 worth of software per copy as a donation.

Chump change. If it makes you feel better to call it $200 million, go right ahead.

I'm just saying that the headline of $421 is misleading, You can do a lot more with $421 cash.
I'm confused. I first heard of a hundred million donation, the I heard of a $420 million donation. Were there (2) donations?

Yes
That's all I wanted to say, but they wouldn't let me post anything with less than 10 characters - why?
