It seems to me that we had a pretty good record before Thomas starting playing. I haven't seen practices but how is Thomas that much more productive than Mcclain is or would be??? Just a thought...........

Is this thread a joke? Have you seen Biggie play?

Weren't we in OOC before Thomas started playing? Syracuse is different than Lipscomb. And as for Biggie...no

Are you serious, or is this an attempt at sarcasm?

McClain versus Thomas is no contest. McClain should have been sent packing a year ago. Thomas has length, agility, and the ability to run he floor that McClain can only dream of.

Thomas can shot - Biggie cannot
Thomas can jump - Biggie cannot
Thomas runs - Biggie lumbars
Thomas can guard some - Biggie gets left in the dust

Thomas may make some mistakes from time to time but he has been one of our most productive players. He also plays harder and with more passion than ANY other player on the team.

Is this a joke ... Tell me you have had 1 too many Hudys tonight ... Look at the schedule and then ask Keith to lock this thread ...

Thanks!

I like Thomas. He needs to finish better around the basket (too many missed shots at the rim) but he's an active rebounder. I see him getting better as the year goes on and in to next year.

that was before the big east conference games started. he didnt play until the x game. if thomas can solidify his inside game, he can be a good contributor off the bench. he's got the ronald allen syndrome, a big man that thinks he is a 2 gaurd.

Thomas can take a bad shot-So can Biggie
I think Biggies hands are better than Thomas'...I have never seen a big man with such weak hands. Anybody could knock the ball out of them!

I think everyone answered this question.

Thomas has been a pleasant suprise over the last 5-6 games. He has been a bright spot.

If we make any run at an NCAA bid, we'll need Thomas' help.

Biggie is slow and lumbersome and gets no PT. So, it's not like we're a fast break team. Laugh all you want, but his numbers would project out to be one of the most productive players on this team. If Biggie averaged 30 mins a game, he'd project to 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks, and he shoots 60% from the field. But I understand, they're just stats.

I think his biggest problems are: 1) his hands, 2) knowing when to put the ball on the ground and when not to. he always puts the ball on the ground after getting a board rather than putting it right back up or tipping it in.

I agree, I think he has improved in alot of ways in this season. The one thing I would love to see him improve on is being more assertive with the ball. Too many times he gets an entry pass or a rebound just to have it taken away. It just looks like a matter of strength and physicality. Even though he is skinny, I think if he was a little more physical, and kept the ball up, defenses would have a harder time. That said, I think he is a decent player is on his way to being a good player.

Didn't see your post, basically exactly what I said right after you.

Here is a quote from Thomas from Cincinnati.com article after the South Florida loss:

“We’ve got five more games before we reach the Big East tournament,” said junior forward Ibrahima Thomas. “We’re going to make the (NCAA) tournament. We’re taking it right now that we’ve got heart and we’ve got the skills. We still believe in ourselves. We’re going to make it.”

It's quotes like this that make me like him even more. He always plays with passion and energy. Whether or not you think we'll (UC) make it, you got to love his attitude.

they may be stats but thats not how stats work. You cant just assume that he would get those numbers over 30 minutes. I mean if you think he would have 3.5 blocks a game youre out of your mind. Do the same inflation for Thomas and the stats are almost identical.

Actually, it is safe to assume his average would be around those numbers on the season in 30 mins. Stats work very well to measure how a player MIGHT perform if given more time. He may not average those numbers exactly, but he wouldn't be far from them. If one of those categories would go down, yes, blocks would probably drop. And as far as the similar numbers to Thomas, that's kinda my point. Who'd think he'd be just as, if not more, effective than Thomas. Not many. I think Biggie catches too much heat because of what he looks like when he plays. He might look really awkward, but he really isn't killing us like you'd think from reading a message board, that's all.

unfortunately, our problems are far more widespread than thomas inability to catch and finish. we are doing a lot of the same bad things we did last year when he was on the bench, and that is cause for concern. eos.
