I think the St.John's loss hurt us the most.We gave the Marquette game away too,but the conference tourney is that 2nd chance to make up for that.
Let's keep it rollin!

I hate to dwell in the past - but it is very hard not to look back and see the opportunities that were there.

This team is about 20 missed free throws from being a top 15 team if not higher.

I don't think they're THAT bad....We technically don't have a 'bad' loss, so really any of our losses really hurts.
I think what hurts us is not WHO we lost to, but how many games we lost.
But your point is taken that if we would've taken care of business with teams we should've beaten, making the tournament wouldn't be an issue.

And about 20 made free throws away from being completly out of the NIT discussion.

How about this then......if this team shoots the average of NCAA basketball teams from the free throw line than this team has 4 or so more wins. In reality that isn't true either since we are about 1 free throw from being in the middle. But, a hypothetical is easier to be examined when the team floats back towards the mean opposed to even further away from it.
This team is 331 out of 347 from the line. If they shoot them better at crunch time then we may not even be talking about the bubble or Mick's job.

We need a big win here at the end and WVU gives us that chance. I still say beating Maryland and Vandy were huge wins but we don't have that one win against a top 10 team. I think they will take into the account how competitive we have been against top teams. Beating Lou and WV at the end is a strong finish.

I feel that our two worst losses were Marquette and St. John's. Let's say we wouldn't have blown those games. That would put us at 20-12 (9-9) in the conference.
That would have bought us a first round matchup against DePaul and a second round matchup against Georgetown, just like South Florida. The ESPN ticker yesterday said "Georgetown bursts South Florida's bubble." I like the draw that we got against Rutgers and Louisville (could have been Marquette with the hypothetical win) better than South Florida's (DePaul, Georgetown and eventually Syracuse).
While our situation is not ideal, our bubble has not burst yet, like South Florida's did yesterday.

I am pretty sure that if they had missed 20 more free throws they would have been in the minus percentages!!!

It doesn't matter what games we could add to the W column. Take ANY two of them (Xavier, Gonzaga, St. John's, Marquette, Villanova, Seton Hall), and we are 20-12 and maybe 9-9 in conference, with two more good wins, and are in the tourney with this little run we have going now.

Huge. Losing to St Js and USF was the difference between being in the show and watching on TV. Bottom line.....
