Links from the Big East Conference are now on the main Bearcatnews.com website. Louisville and Georgetown are picked as co-favorites to win the league. UC is picked to finish 12th.

12th gets us into the postseason BEast tourney!

I find it hard too beleave that there's going too be 11 Big east teams finishing better than this years cats team. This team is elite without Mike Williams.

Elite? A little too much.

I agree, I think if everything falls right and the freshmen develop and the team chemistry is there, I see this team as finishing between 7-9. Hardly an elite team in the BEAST

Standards must have fallen for today's youth. I consider 8-10 to between "Mediocre" and "Average".
elite is 8-10
In what universe? Last year 8-10 was Villanova, DePaul, Providence. Far from elite.

8-10 isn't even premier, let alone elite. It's a step or two up from punching bag.

Your standards for Elite are a lot different than mine. To me, elite is a top 10 rated team....and, I'm not talking about top 10 in the BE.

Don't you think 12 is a little high, Concidering the core of upperclassmen plus Vaughn and a very talented group of freshmen. McClain, Mitchell, Bishop, Belton, Davis and Wilks
I am just trying too be positive. Heck we just lost our second best player. Elite 8 is not out of the question, All of you nay sayers can have your say now>

We can all hope, but not so sure Elite 8 is realistic.

Unless Mick can teach height, speed and experience I do not see this is possible. I would hope for Elite 8 of the conference tournament as a good season.

McClain is going too be a studd, He will start at center with AdamH at power forward with Sikes and Belton.
Williamson,Bishop and Alvin Mitchell at small forward.
Vaughn and Gentry will be starting backcoart with Warren, Mitchell and Davis.
Wilks and Brandon Miller. THey are going too have all that with out Mike Williams.

UC should easily have 5 or 6 more W than last season (even without Big Mike).
More depth, more talent, more used to one another as teammates.

I think adding freshmen (and an unknow quantity in Adam H) to a team that didn't exactly set the world on fire is going to give us a #12 every time. If UC wants respect back, we're gonna have to earn it on the court.

I wouldn't count on the freshman making as big of an impact as you may think. UConn last year had 1 5 star player and 5 4 star players including a 7-2 and 6-11 center. 4 players rated in the top 10 at their position.
McClain would have been the 4th best player in that class and they went 6-10 in conference and 17-14 overall.
I appreciate the optimisim, but I don't see this team any better than being the last team or 2nd to last team in the Big East tournmanet.

Inchickinkick, I usually like your posts and your my boy on the board, but man I got to disagree with your assessment on McClain. I dont see him being a starter at all this year. He has potential which of coarse means "your not any good right now". I think he can contribute but not much at all early and absolutely none on offense.... right now, this year.

The difference the freshmen will make AT THE LEAST is to allow the seniors to have a seat during the game without a HUGE dropoff in play you would get when Ron Allen or one of the walk-ons took the floor. If Vaughn, Sikes, Warren and Williamson still have their legs at the end of those 4 games lost by 2 points or less last season, I like their chances a lot better. Add to that the fact that Sikes can now play his true position, and that they're all more experienced, I think another 5-6 wins is very realistic.

Wow you guys really think that way about our team?
We have Vaughn,Warren,Gentry,Williamson,Sikes and AdamH....
From what you guys have seen, How many of those six freshmen
will help out the team?

I think we will be good, and as our team improves and everyone understands their roles, will be better later on in Jan/Feb.
It'll be fun to watch, but UC is a year away from making a big splash.
