Upon reading Cronin's comments in today's Enquirer "this is academic, there's confusion about something.......it could be something as simple as a grading scale" I do not expect to see Wilks playing for the Bearcats this season. This definitely looks like here we go again.

Mick said he expected it to be resolved this week. I'll go with what he said.

Again, even if he doesn't it's not the end of the world. They'll be hurt more by Mike Williams being out for the year. After what we went through last year, this year will be a cakewalk.

Regardless how much of an impact a possible season without Wilks, I agree in saying "here we go again." Is it me, or does it seem that the NCAA waits until right before the season starts before it brings out potential problems especially with UC. Indiana had freshman center Eli Holman cleared two or three weeks ago, but once again they decide that a UC player isn't for sure eligible with the season right around the corner...pathetic

I don't understand it either, Wilks declared 2007 months ago, the paperwork process should have started the next day. The same thing happened last year with Hall and Adam H, right before the season starts they tell us neither one can play!!!! We still have 12 players, including Branden Miller. So having bodies shouldn't be a problem

If I recall correctly, we were made aware of the delay last year before the season started. The staff knew there was a problem and appealed the initial decision.

Eerily similar -

Question is if the NCAA is reviewing an appeal or if this is truly the first time through the process. Agree with earlier comment that the process should have been started immediately upon his declared intent.

How much bad luck can one program have?!? We're due for some good karma.

I think we are wrong in making the NCAA the bad guy in all of this.

The way I see it - part of the reason we landed these players is because there were questions regarding their eligibility. Last year, Mick was in a position where he had to roll the dice. Unfortunately, he did not hit.

I look forward to future recruiting classes where Mick isn't scrambling as much as he has been the last two years and he will be able to bring players in who won't has many question marks.

I really think that it is more a matter that Mick has been in a place to gamble; rather than a matter of him not doing the due diligence required to avoid these type of issues.

Wilks had a very good academic career in HS (better than 3.0 GPA).

"It's going on all over the country," Cronin said. "Unfortunately, numerous teams are in the same situation that we're in. ... He gets more behind every day. Nothing you can do about it."

Any idea, though, when this will be resolved?

"I thought it should have been done a week ago," Cronin said. "But apparently I was wrong."

Here we go again, and again, and again, and again....................

I think the fact that he reclassified as 2007 probably slowed the process. That's a bit too unusual for the NCAA to grasp easily.

Bill Walker made the same type of move, didn't he?

Walker graduated early from a regular HS (North College Hill).

Wilks graduated from a smaller, private HS. The academics are muddier in that case.

Wilks is/was a fine student and should have no problem qualifying.

Keep in mind Mick got McClain away from UConn and Georgetown, and Mitchell was highly recruited as well. He got in on Wilks early -- no academic issues were involved.

I'm not too concerned about Wilks. If he is able to contribute much it'll be later in the year anyway. The main thing he needs is to get stronger, and he can do that on his own.

Wilks is still not eligible to play, he is being allowed to practice while waiting on the NCAA eligibility decision. It is still "here we go again."
