Did I read correctly, he has an offer from Standford? Even if he doesn't play there that is hard to pass up. Career earnings potential with a degree from Stanford is going to blow any of the other schools out of the water.

The kid isn't from St. X, I bet he'd rather play some ball rather than ride the pine.

Smith is a stud. He'd play if he went to Stanford. Probably not as soon as if he came to UC, but he'd play.

Great pick up for Butch. Finally addressing the defensive side of the ball.

I'd like to think that me wearing my Bearcats gear all the time when i was rehabbing my knee next to him earlier this year contributed to the effort...
He seemed like a good kid, excited to have him on board!

This verbal is big for Kerry Combs' reputation. How many times has swung and missed with the 2010 Colerain squad.

Jarrett Grace is the only other one i can think of. i was under the impression that Andrew Smith was our only other target and that Dukes and Williams we're not a high priority.

Dukes was not. They were only looking for DB's in this class if they were very, very high on them... Durham on the other hand... I heard they were recruiting him as a LB... I'm not sure if Wisconsin told him he would be a RB or what, but you certainly can't blame him (or Coombs) for choosing the Badgers... he'll fit in very well up there.
As far as Williams, I think a lot of interest in him fell off during his junior year... there's a whole dissertation I have on why I disagree with this and wished UC was still recruiting him hard, but I guess they aren't. I really, really like the kid and think he'd thrive in the UC offense.

Durham stated when he verbaled to Wisconsin that he was going as LB. You guys are right about Dukes, he wasn't.

In that case than I'm said we didn't get Durham... if he transitions well he could be a force at LB... he's built like, well... a bull.

Any idea why he decommitted? From the articles I read he seemed really excited to come to UC and then this just came out of the blue...

I've been saying it for years...I have nothing against Kerry Coombs personally, but this myth that he is some sort of recruiting guru is once again debunked. If the guy can't even get mid-level recruits from the high school where he is supposedly a god to come here, then why is he on staff again?

I think the apeal of Kerry Coombs is wearing off amongst some of us. His coaching ability is suspect. Anybody can argue that the talent is not there, but that is no excuse for blown coverage or missed assignments. And seeing kids from Colerain choose Northwestern (seriously?) over UC is just really pathetic.
Maybe there is some linebacker in the fold that nobody knows about that is going to blow our socks off?
