Have heard this kid is pretty good. Hopefully we can get him. There are a lot of good LBs in the city this year. Should be able to get some good depth out of this class.

I'm pretty sure UC hasn't offered him yet.

Now getting looks from Iowa.
I think he could get a lot of offers depending on how well he does at camps this summer.

Good deal! You don't hear of many highlanders mentioned. Good to know :)

Kid would have 20+ offers right now had he stayed at Elder. He would really have been showcased the last few years in some of those big games. JMO.

Do you think that we should/will offer him?

Maybe if he stayed at Elder, he would not have gotten playing time. Just a guess since I do not know anything about him. I know from experience that some sports at Elder do play favorites to certain names/players.

I think most programs are waiting to see how he does at the summer camps. As said above, Minnesota has jumped in to give him his first BCS offer. Does anyone know if he attended the Nike camp in Columbus? Would have been a good opportunity for him to get more exposure but I haven't heard anything about him so I'm assuming he either didn't go or didn't impress. Although I don't know, my guess is that the staff will see what happens with our many other LB prospects we've offered first.

UC visited him at Oak Hills on Tuesday. OSU was there also.

The only program that plays favorites at Elder anymore is basketball. Football certainly doesn't. They play the best players.
He would have started varsity as a sophomore at Middle Linebacker in 2008, on Elder's state runner-up team. There was no question about that. He was already being penciled in for the position by the coaching staff and everyone. He would have gotten a lot more exposure had he stayed at Elder IMO. Again its just my opinion, but he'd be a 20+ offer kid right now.

What is the deal with Minnesota anyways? They must offer 700 kids a year. It's unbelievable. EVERYONE has a Minnesota offer.

I'd like to see them offer, however UC is in on some other really good linebackers as of right now with guys like Andrew Smith, Antonio Poole, etc... My guess is it depends on what happens with those guys before they pull the trigger with Russell, unless he has a really good camp. He's a very good player, just at a high school not known for producing any kind of football talent whatsoever.

What happened at his workout yesterday? Did the additional weight slow him down? Anyone with the dirt?

I guess no UC offer was coming. It goes to show how far the program has come in such a short time.
Anyone know what was on the pay site about Poole and the UC camp?

I was kinda hoping he would walk-on here seeing as how much he was in love with UC. Oh well. I don't know what the pay site said but everything I have read has said we are in good shape with 2-3 local LBs.
