My prediction is he's the next in a long line of St X players with other offers who will not pick UC. Until that school sends a player to UC that others wanted, they will always have that anti-UC reputation.

Yeah, it's strange. I graduated from St. X in '03 and there wasn't a lot of love for UC football back then. I'm sure it has picked up since then due to the teams sucess, but I wonder how much? It seems that there were always a decent number of UC basketball fans there.

Hopefully he doesn't follow in the footsteps of Luke Kuechly. Another St. X linebacker that we could've used that went off to BC and became a freshman all-american.

Yeah, Kuechly is a monster. I think this defense could have used both he and Muldoon.
BC is on that list (for Sean Duggin), and that is always a magnet for GCL players, especially players from St. X. Boston College is a Jesuit School, as is St. Xavier- that's the connection (for those who were not aware of that).
I graduated from St. X back in the late 70's; there are not many Bomber-Bearcats from back then.
Kerry Coombs has done a very nice job recruiting St. X and the GCL, especially given the fact that he spent nearly 20 years locked in mortal combat combat with them. Milligan was a gift scholly, I think, in order to try to bang down the wall over there in Finneytown. I loved watching Danny play high school football, and he is a proven winner, but just too small for D1 Big East football.
They would have had both Matt James (may he RIP) and Luke Massa, had BK not moved on to Notre Dame.

It's nice to know there's other St. X grads on here. I'm one as well. I'll look forward to seeing what Sean does. I haven't lived in Cincinnati for years, but used to play soccer with Sean's dad. They're a great family. From what I understand, Sean's been getting some Ivy League interest for lacrosse as well. I haven't spoken with his dad recently, but I do remember that he's a proud Notre Dame grad, for whatever that's worth......

High profile kids (i.e. blue chippers) from GCL Schools ain't coming to UC until we win a national championship. In fact, I'm not sure they would come even if we won the NC. The pecking order for the better GCL kids will always be Notre Dame, BC, Big Ten, and then maybe UC. Which is why we need to keep our pipeline going with some of the local GMC schools. I wish it was just the opposite but that's not reality.

I agree 100%. The talent pool in Cincinnati beyond the GCL is still darn good as is Dayton, Columbus, Indianapolis, etc.
We should continue grinding away at the GCL but not to the demise of the other areas.

That's not entirely true.
UC has landed players from Moeller, Elder and LaSalle in recent years that have had other offers, a number of them that had Big 10 offers. They have landed 0 from St X that have had other offers.

I think he's talking about the "five star" GCL kids. The Kyle Rudolphs, Devier Poseys, and Matt James of the world. Come to think of it though, UC has never landed a blue chip recruit from anywhere, GCL or not.

Define blue chip?
We have landed a couple of good players rated highly in the last couple years.
DeJuan? Lewis
Chris Williams
Then if you count Juco players and transfers we have
Viadal Hazelton
J Howard (granted he has turned out as expected)
K Thompkins
