Solid player. Tom Bolden's nephew I believe. They have another sophomore Jake Blust that is a pretty good player as well.

Amazing isn't it.........Michigan football hasn't been nationally relevant since they won the title back in 1997, but they can still recruit super kids. I guess the Michigan brand still carries some weight......

Wasn't Michigan #2 in the country and a game way from the NC in 2006?

Nope, in 2006 they finished tied for 2nd in the Big Ten Conference with Wisconsin......their best finish in the Big Ten since 1997. They went out to Pasadena and got blown out by USC. That was the year that OSU also got manhandled by Florida in the NC game. Michigan football has not been in the NC conversation since they won it in 1997.

You can rewrite history if you want. That OSU Michigan game was one of the best college football games I have ever seen.

On a side note if a #2 Michigan wasn't in the NC conversation that year, then UC has never been in the NC conversation. So I'm not sure what point you are making here?

You trying to say that Michigan was in the NC conversation in 2006 before their bowl game?? Yeah probably.....so what? Happens every year with whoever is leading the Big Ten toward the end of the regular season. Means nothing if you turn around and lose your bowl game by 3 touchdowns (see OSU's record in NC games). If you're trying to claim that Michigan has been a nationally relevant program over the last decade the facts don't support it. Only some Big Ten or UofM diehard would argue that. UofM hasn't even sniffed the top 5 in the Final AP or BCS Poll now for 14 years. Keep smoking that Big Ten stuff.
Back to my original point.........Michigan's mediocre recent history doesn't seem to hurt them on the recruiting trail......they remind me alot of Pittsburgh and Notre Dame in that respect.

Say what you will about Michigan, the fact is, they are second only to Northwestern in academics in the Big Ten. I used to hate Michigan simply because I lived in Ohio. Like many myths of my youth, the more actual knowledge I received vs the opinion of someone else, the more the myth went away.

I wish Mr. Bolden well.

So to be a nationally relevant program over the past 14 years you have to be in the top 5 in the Final AP or BCS Poll? I'd say more like top 10. Also, I hate to tell you this (actually I don't) but Michigan's final BCS ranking was #3 in 2006, and at one point there was talk of an OSU vs. UM rematch for the national championship instead of OSU vs. UF. Plus Michigan lost by only 2 TDs (and they were tied at the half) to a USC team that lost 2 games by a combined 6 points, and that was with their least talented QB in over 7 years. To say that the 2006 UM team was not nationally relevant is just plain ignorant.

Also they were ranked in the top 10 five times (twice in the top 5) in Lloyd Carr's final 10 years. I think you are more basing your opinion of national relevance on Rich Rod's 3 unsuccessful years in Ann Arbor. And they may not have won a lot of games, but you still saw ESPN covering their struggles. Michigan will always be a nationally relevant program, but maybe not national championship caliber.

And just FYI I am not a Big Ten or UM diehard, I just hate ignorant people who try to argue their opinions as facts without doing any research on the topic.
