Alvin impressed me the most tonight! there was others who impressed me but alvin left the biggest impression.. call me crazy b/c the box scores didnt show it but he maybe the best new player overall.. ppl may say bishop after the nku game but over time you will see its alvin! defense was good he is big east size and drives the paint extremely well.. his shot was off tonight but he can shoot too! with that body build and athletic ability he will be good! watching him closely he was always real focused tonight and i think he understands the game well!

I think the best part about tonights game for Alvin (and for all the guys) is they now have some film of a game that includes guys in different color jerseys that they can now look at and see some mistakes.

I do think Alvin will be a stud by the end of the year.

One question I have about Mitchell is where he'll play. MC predicted he'd start at SG last year after signing him. Did he play there last nite, or at SF? I got the impression he played SF in last wk's scrimmage. He's also carrying the weight (225) more typical of a SF than a SG. People often speak of these positions as if they're interchangeable, but not neccessarily. A SG plays more outside in most schemes, needs more ball skills and must guard quicker players. (differentiating between a 2 and a 3)

Anybody see any good dunks in warm-ups? Alvin? Did he do anything nice? Can Rashad get up high? We need to know these things. Last year without any good dunkers was SOOOOO boring.

Long term Alvin could be the best of the bunch but I think the best freshman on this year's team will be Rashad Bishop. He appears the most ready to contribute both physically and mentally and never seems to be in a rush or take a bad shot. He also rebounds well and having played a bit of PG last year in prep school can handle the ball, get to the rim and as you saw last night shoot from deep.

McClain was also impressive and looked a lot more comfortable in the post than in the scrimmage, just have to see if he can do it against players his own height.

McClain is a one handed player....the other was holding his pants up!!!

Anthony...learn how to use the draw string to hold your pants up.

Bearcat Otto you speak the truth man! Too big of shorts and the jersey's seem absurdly long this year

I agree on not rushing shots he passed up a couple open shots last night that resulted in easy shots at the basket!

From the scrimmage at Madness (or whatever it's called) and the first exhibition game, I think Rashad Bishop has a better understanding of the game and may end up being one of the more diverse players UC has ever had.

Rashad Bishop is going to be as solid as a player gets. I think he is a great basketball player more than an athlete. Just "gets it". Alvin has the much better chance of being the superstar, but he could be streaky, I think that Rashad will give you some serious consistency

I'm telling the thegreatone hit it right on the nail...this kid is smart and knows the game...so smooth and his jumper is butter...this kid is so underrated in the big east i was upset by the fact they didnt have him up for 1st team all big east rookie team...you guyz dont know how good this kid really is...a great upside to him he has the body to take punishment and finish...just watch and see if u guyz were watchin the NKU game he had glimpses of star qualities...he's the future...he's starting for UC this season...just give it 8-10 games

That's a bold statement. I hope you're right. It's easy to look good against smaller, inferior players. My guess is that we won't know how really good he'll be until his junior year. It takes time for most big men.
