Although the author does state some good points, he is off on others. As an ex college athlete, I do not believe in payment. the "student-athlete" gets tuition paid for, room and board, and a work study job that pays them for not doing a whole lot. I know that colleges get a lot of money off of jerseys and other sales but the plantation reference is out of line. I do not like the NCAA but colleges do provide the "student-athlete" an avenue of going pro or getting an education and getting a job.
