Update from Zags: "Elijah Carter is settling into his new life at Brewster (N.H.) Academy and trimming his college list as well.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Carter, a former St. Bonaventure commit, says his top five consists of Seton Hall, Cincinnati, Oregon State, Charlotte and Clemson.

Carter had an in-home visit with Oregon State assistant Nate Pomeday on Tuesday night. He also recently had an in-home with Cincinnati head coach Mike Cronin and assistant Darren Savino and also took an unofficial to Seton Hall."

After this situation with Smith, I'm not gonna hold my breath on a recruit headed to prep school.

After this situation with Smith, I'm not gonna hold my breath on a recruit headed to prep school.Considering you probably couldn't hold your breath for more than a couple of minutes, I'd say that's a good plan. Even better would be to not hold your breath on any recruit anywhere in any situation. We get a very small percentage of those we pursue.

I happen to like the fact that we're in on some East coast recruits a lot more than we have been in a long while. Hardly a week goes bye w/o Zags mentioning UC in regards to some recruit. That's progress and I think we have Savino to thank.

I'll have to try holding your breath thing for a couple minutes. Anyway, I agree. The recruiting world has gone a little crazy and verbals aren't worth a thing anymore. I'm not a big recruiting expert, mostly an observer but I'm getting better. The LOI is more important obviously and depending on what happens with Mick, we may not have any of those depending on how the AD treats hims.

I personally think he's here through the 2011-2012 season.

I also think your assessment of Savino is spot on. And yeah I agree, it's nice to mentioned in Zags' write up even if we don't get our man every time.

From Zagoria:

The 6-2 Carter, now at Brewster (N.H.) Academy, will trip to Cincinnati next weekend after visiting Charlotte this weekend.

“I’m building a good relationship witt Coach Cronin and Coach [Darren] Savino,” he said recently. “They came in and let me know how everything was.”

Carter also lists Seton Hall, Clemson and Oregon State in his top five.

Probably playing time wise and position wise, where he would fit in. If he wondered if Cronin would still be there, he probably told him about the years left on his contract and the support he has from his AD - the same things he talks about in every interview he does when presented with the question.
