With the ammount of quality WR prospects we are receiving lately... I can't help but think a few may switch to defensive secondary to get more playing time. Key word here is a few (i.e. small number).

We need a lot of WRs for Jones' offense.
2008
Milligan
Payne
Woods
(truesdale is gone)
2009
0
(Howard will be gone by then and Josh Jones is not on team)
2010
McClung
Robinston
Thompkins
Lewis
(Thompkins is Junior)
So I think 3 is the right number this year. 2009 left a big hole.

UC gets commitment from wide receiver
UC has received an oral commitment from Chris Moore, a 6-1, 175-pound wide receiver from Tampa Jefferson High School.
Moore, a 3-star Rivals recruit, said this morning that he chose UC from a host of schools that included Boston College, West Virginia, Michigan State and Auburn because he wanted to play in a strong conference like the Big East, because UC has won the league two years in a row, because the Bearcats throw the ball a lot and because he thought he would have a chance to play as a freshman.
Moore said he plans to visit UC the weekend of Sept. 25 when the Bearcats play Oklahoma.

Auburn and Boston College also offered him in recent weeks. Rivals and Scout just never updated his profile. The feature last week on Chris in the Tampa newspaper made mention of those offers.

I wouldn't dismiss the commitment from Moore that easily although your point is well takent about the need for defensive players and RBs. Moore is a very good pickup and we beat out quite a few other BCS programs for his services. Remember that we do have one defensive lineman, Brandon Mitchell, who is 6'2, 300 lbs. West will need to continue developing but a lot of guys in high school aren't that big end up developing into great DEs. It's more important that you have the right frame. As an example, Austin Traylor is currently only 6'4, 210 lbs.

How quickly we all forget the days when a 3* recruit would have been major news and considered a major coup regardless of position.

Vegas, Was it really necessary to trash a brand new recruit the day he signed? I understand your opinion but this does nothing to further the program. Can I respectfully suggest that the next time you're upset about our recruiting that you keep it to yourself. I got several complaints about your post.

Ouch! I sincerely appologize. I certainly was not trashing Moore in any way. I think he is a great get and I'm very pleased with his decision to come to Cinci.
I'm getting anxious to sign some defensive guys of his caliber. And we haven't even signed any RB's. :o
Also, I changed my post. Rancinejake just needs to edit his and we should be good.

Check out UC's recruiting classes that brought in DJ Woods ( 2 stars ) Isiah Pead (3 stars ) Brandon Kay (2 stars), Sean Hooey (2 stars) and then compare them to 2011 class. Moore is a legit 3 star player from Florida where it is very easy to be overlooked and just a year ago his signing would have been front page news.

Woods was a 3 star at least per rivals.

Woods was definitely never a 2-star. He was a high 3-star 5.7 by Rivals and had offers from Michigan, Penn State, Auburn, Iowa, West Virginia, Nebraska and a bunch of other schools.

Plenty of time to add a couple RB's and a lot more defensive players. At least they aren't in a panic and settling for a guy like Tyler Williams. I will say this right now, Brandon Mitchell is as high caliber as you are going to find. Everyone has missed the boat on him.
The one thing I would like to see is at least 1-2 DB's in this class and that may be unlikely.

I guess the point I was trying to make is the talent of a player like DJ Woods was a rare occurance just a few years ago. Now here we are saying the verbal of a 3 star player like Moore is a yawn!
UC is definitely moving into the recruiting circles that were previously unattainable.
