Sim Bhullar, formerly of Toronto
7-4, 300 lbs. (weight varies by site)
The Kiskiminetas Springs School (Saltsburg, PA)
Offers: UC, IU, WVU, Washington State, Pittsburgh

Has a younger brother (7'2), conditioning could be an issue but looks pretty legit when not running up the court

I hope that he signs with UC but if he does not, I pray that he does not sign with a BEast team.

I seriously do not see this kid being good/great. I agree with the OP on the conditioning comment.

He has a little bit more weight than JR. He would take up a lot of space in the middle and if he can alter/block shots he would be worth it. We need to start getting more than just recruits that are athletes that do not know basketball. I would definitely take a chance on him.

7'4" and 280-300 lbs equals future knee/foot problems.

But I agree with Brett...take a chance on him

I saw these kids on some tv show. They are tall, but do not even resemble athletes. Biggie makes them look uncoordinated and slow.

Supposedly making the trip with J. Davis tomorrow. Not sure how hard Mick is recruiting him. I know he was at Xavier game a few weeks back (maybe against UD).

I notice in the videos he never has any pressure when he does that little bunny hop (lol) dunk. Does he have (or even need???) the strength to plow through some people? If nothing else, imagine the rebounds he'd pull down. 5 more inches of Thomas.

Just a side note, I was at the game and saw Sim Bhullar while waiting to use the bathroom on the way out of the game. ....edited by mod.. what it's worth his "handler" I guess that is who he is said he like's it here. I will tell you one thing that kid is huge!:)

The reason why the last post was edited is because the poster broke an NCAA rule. Do not make direct contact with recruits unless you have press credentials.

You technically shouldn't make contact with recruits (at the game's, that is) if you have press credentials - thought obv for a different reason

So if you are at a public event and run in to a kid that UC is recruiting you can't say anything to him? I understand that represntatives of the program can't have contact, but regular everyday people can't say anything to the kid if they run in to him in public?

students at football games at most big schools are chanting recruits names, putting signs up at houses, high fiving them on campus, telling them to go to their school. if this is the case there are hundreds of violations every recruiting visit. the ncaa is not going to come after uc because someone said hi to a recruit. they have bigger fish to fry, and they sure as **** cannot go after uc based on an unsubstantiated report from a person on a message board claiming to have spoken to a player. facebook is different because then there is a name attached and evidence of the contact. here, the burden of proof on the ncaa to prove this would be beyond their means and not something they would ever spend time on.

my greater concern is the confusion as to why we are recruiting him. it seems like we have been moving towards athletes in the post that allow us to press (i.e. not gates and thomas who stifle our pressing ability). it would be difficult to believe that this guy would be able to play in a full court defense.

I watched one of the videos and it was nice to see him go to the bucket every time he got the ball. Our guys don't like to do that. But at the same time he always wanted to put the ball on the floor first. In the BEast that translates to a TO.

You can if it's a random occurrence. Coming up to them at a game where you're a fan makes you a representative of UC. Post about it on the internet and it's reportable. Stupid and a waste time to investigate, but reportable. I'm not willing to put BCN into middle of something like an unlikely NCAA investigation. This is the veritable "err on the side of caution" rule both for the board, program and fans.

Here's the actual bylaw fom the UCATS manual. It's written towards boosters but applies to anyone who can be identified as a rep of the university in any context.

At least the kid shows a little fire and attitude. Not sure he is a Big East Player would like to see more of a video of him running around and playing defense.

I saw quite a bit on the two brothers about a year or so ago., and again recently. I wish the kid well, but hope he's someone elses project.

How does a kid that slow fit our roster that is comprised of combo guards, athletes, and smaller, quicker post players?

What you did makes sense in reality.

It does, however, show the ridiculousness of the NCAA. They can't keep the father of the heisman winner from getting $ to send his kid to school but they will go after some random college kid that says hi to a recruit while waiting to take a piss. ;)

wow, I want nothing to do with that kid. He will rock intramural league but that is about it. Far too slow. The attitude/fire is probably pretty easy to have when playing against kids a foot and a half shorter and half your weight, but it makes you look like an arse imo.

On another note, Riek is averaging 1 point and 1 rebound a game this year for miss st. Not so sure about the lottery pick hype. Not sure we missed out on much.

Don't know about lottery pick but I was told by someone we would win the national championship with him. ;)

Check out this kid. Only 15 and 7-2, but I have to say he is actually quite coordinated. Needs to add weight, but that will come. Time to Mick to get over in China and get an offer going...silently.

You can't teach size, but you can teach footwork, speed drills, nutrition skills, and put the kid on a monstrous workout program.

Maybe we can prevent knee/foot/hip/back problems for this kid and turn him into a lottery pick - after his senior season of course.

Im normally not a fan of "projects" but this is very tempting. He is head and shoulders above where biggie was at in high school. I see some decent potential, after some weight training and lifting.

Visiting X again today with his teammate Stefan Jankovic. At least the second or third time he's been there, and I know X asst watched them this week.

Not sure if he'd be stopping by UC today also.

I don't think this ever happened based on what I read from SN. He was set to Prep this year and join the X class in 2012. Instead he decommitted and decided on NMSU and reclassified to 2011.

For all the crap X fans have given UC about being "thugs" (and not saying any of X's recent recruits are), there is no question that X's recent success had led them to better recruiting and, as a result, more risks.

Their #1 recruit last year (Justin Martin) was ineligible a year ago, DSR committed and decommitted, Michael Chandler (huge risk) orally committed and then decommitted, etc.

This isn't an X vs. UC type post. Just saying that this is not a surprise to me to see all this stuff happen. Can't speak about Sim Bhullar, as he seemed pretty happy with Xavier. But if he can qualify for 2011, why wait it out to play A-10 ball?

Also, congrats to X for the graduation streak they have had. That doesn't mean the team is full of scholars. So clearly the more they achieve on the court, the more desirable they are to the same set of recruits any of the other big schools pursue (which includes some at-risk guys).

Sim made it through the 1st few days of class then found out he would have to pay out of pocket for the 1st year. He wont end up playing at NMSU since they are a D-1 school and he has clearing house issues.

Another rumor is that he wants to get to the NBA asap and X wanted to red shirt him this year.

Ans X is only at 12 scholarships for this year. Still have 1 to use or save for next year
