I like getting commits and stuff but really how many WRs do we need. Like we saw against Florida we need bigger/more physical guys up front on both sides. If we could maintain our level with our skill players and get bigger in the trenches we would dominate the big east year in and year out.

Good height and good speed. My guess is he gets a shot at playing WR, if he doesn't cut it he is a db.

Hopefully he pans out to be as talented of a player in college as another recent LaSalle receiver - Devier Posey.

You can not be a fan of the Buckeyes all you want, lord knows I am hardly a fan of Ohio State. That withstanding, Posey is a pretty good reciever and if this kid is anything like him I will welcome him to UC with open arms.

Thank you CMM. I'm no fan of the Buckeyes but I try not to let my personal biases get in the way of an objective evaluation. Posey is a pretty darn good wide receiver. Consider the QB that has been throwing him the ball is about as accurate as Ray Charles at a shooting range and Posey still makes some great catches to bail his quarterback out.

If you would have put Posey in UC's lineup with Pike or Collaros throwing him the ball I think you'd be singing a different tune, TGO. Is he the best receiver in division 1? Hardly. Would I want him on the Bearcats squad? You bet. And if this Coleman kid is in the same mold, and I have no idea if he is, I welcome his talents to the 'Cats.

Its one thing to put your trust in a coaching staff who has proven themselves, its quite another to put blind faith in a coaching staff just because they are the coaches.

Is it better than putting blind trust into guys who watch video in their parent's basements and assign star ratings to high school kids? Or, are you actually basing your opinion of Coleman's talents on having watched him play?

Because of that I think he will wind up on defense at safety.

I too think that the coaches will work him at the D side of the line.

The fact is that we, as fans, don't know everything the staff knows. They have one h of a lot more experience evaluating talent than any of us do. Who knows, maybe this is part one of a 2 part deal. There must be another LaSalle player that lives up to your high D1 standard.

This kid is a good WR, but WILL NOT get into school. This is the reason he has no other offers. The kid cannot get into any NCAA school at this point. Coleman gets a lot of attention from BIG schools, but they eventually back off due to grades. Recruiting services also know about this and have virtually ignored RC. UC's offer and Coleman Verbal is just a formality stating he will go to uc after he qualifies, if he qualifies.

With my own two eyes, Coleman is the best WR in the GCL and probably the best in the cincy area. Runs smooth, adjusts to the ball very well, and plucks the ball out of the air. He is big and athletic... I have a feeling most of you will hear alot about him after this weekend when the Lancers play St. X.

J.K. Schaffer was undersized and under-recruited coming out of LaSalle in 2007, but developed into one of the premier defenders in the Big East.

Some didn't bother to dig. Check that, almost everyone didn't.

The All-Ohio linebacker sold himself to Mid-American Conference schools across the state, hoping to land a scholarship offer. Ohio University offered. No others did. Miami (Ohio), a MAC school living in Schaffer's own backyard, decided to pass.

But Coombs saw an underdog. While nearly every school on the recruiting trail viewed that as an excuse for why Schaffer would fail, everyone close to him knew it was the reason he'd succeed.

My $0.02 If this guy was a recruit in Kansas or Nevada etc I would be more worried. This guy is a local kid who has been scouted and scouted again. I'll take their word over yours. If grades are the thing, he goes JC or prep and we can sign him up after that. If he doesn't make the grades then UC doesn't waste a scholarship. You bring in talent when you can.

The kid sounds like a player from many who have seen him. I saw where he had a huge game against St. X this past week. I agree that if he doesn't qualify then it's no scholarship wasted and maybe we can get him after he preps or goes to JUCO.
